NCA started giving scholarships in 2004 to students enrolled in the GM ASEP
program at SCC Milford Campus. This year marks the 22nd and 23rd scholarship we
have given. ASEP is a two year program designed by GM and SCC and leads to an
Associate Degree. It includes an internship at a GM dealership. To be eligible for our
scholarship the student has to complete 2 quarters of the program, complete an
application and meet standards of the program. This year we are giving two $750
scholarships. The scholarship committee is comprised of Arlyn Uhrmacher, Chair;
Roger Keetle, Brad Hillhouse and Jerry Boden. This year we awarded scholarships to
Eric Goertzen from Polk, NE and Christopher Bent from York, NE.
e. Car Show – Chairman, Bill Zuspan - Sept. 21st. – West Gate Bank
The Neighborhood Extra will run an article on Saturday, September 13 regarding our
show. Pictures of your car will be taken again this year as you enter the show. A
display of 53-62 Vettes will be in front of the bank. The ATM lane must be left open.
The Garage will be the food vendor and sell pulled pork sandwiches. Dairy Joe’s will
be there to sell ice cream. There will be a license plate vendor. Leta Powell Drake
“Calamity Kate” will be there signing her book. Bill reviewed parking and
committees. Linda Wilson-Weichbrodt needs club members to get their
registrations into Jim Martindale asap so she can prepare the registrations in
advance. Registration is a ton of work; so don’t make it harder by waiting until the
last minute to register. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as a
Long Distance Award, Race/Custom Award and People’s Choice Award. We are still
seeking contributions of door prizes and silent auction items for the show. Watch
for an email communication regarding drop off time and place for silent auction
items.
We have reserved Old Chicago at SouthPointe for the “After the Cars Show Par-Tay”.
