No. 27 Thursday 4 September 2014 Saane Faaofo Oldehaver Principal Dear Parents, extended family, caregivers and community members, Greetings, Kia ora, Talofa lava, Kia orana, Malo e lelei, Goeie Môre, Fakaalofa lahi atu EXPO—I hope you have all locked in your diaries the Expo dates for this term. Our Manutukutuku classes and Room 3 will be Week 9 and the rest of the school are in Week 10. We will send a flyer out closer to the dates. This year we will be doing our Expo slightly differently. The Expo will be in classes and our classes will be open to all our whanau for the week where you can come and sit alongside your child and ask them about their inquiry learning projects that they have been working on. There are some exciting things happening in each whanau so hopefully you will have time to pop along and see your children’s work. MATHS TOGETHER WORKSHOPS– Last night we had our first workshop for parents of Year 5,6,7, and 8 students. We had only one family so if you are free next Wednesday 10 September at 6pm come along to the school library and Mr Madjar will take you through a Maths session. UNIFORM—It is important all our children come to school every day in the correct school uniform. Our uniform shop is open Tuesdays 3 to 3.30pm and Thursdays 8.30 to 9.00am. Please can you name your child’s uniform as we have lots of school uniforms with no names. If you have lost any items of clothing please pop in to see Mrs Griffiths in the office to look through the pile of unnamed uniforms. INTERMEDIATES FOR 2015– We have prospectuses for our local intermediate schools at our office. Waimahia will have an open day soon and we will send a flyer to let you know when you can go and have a look around the school. Waimahia offer excellent Technology, Science and The Arts programmes. Kind regards Saane Faaofo Oldehaver PRINCIPAL Thought for the week: ‘Education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire’ - William Yates During our school assembly last Friday Mr Dewitt Nel was awarded the Caught Being Good Dad award by his daughter Francisca Nel from Room 11.
