Carnival of games, tattoo’s & nails will begin at 5:30 pm and run until 7:30 pm. PLAN ON ATTENDING…FUN FOR EVERYONE…..BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!! U.P. of MICHIGAN BASIC SKILLS COMPETITION SERIES: U.P. of Michigan Basic Skills competition series will take place this season with competitions offered in Houghton 11/15/14, Escanaba 12/6/14, Iron Mountain 1/24/15 and Marquette 2/21/15. Series Mission Statement: The purpose of these competitions is to promote a fun, introductory, competitive experience for the beginning skater. Skaters will have the chance to compete at different clubs and arenas and earn points for a final standing. A skater may participate in either Program with Music and/or Elements Events in any of the series competitions to be eligible for accumulating points. Awards will be presented to skaters with the highest point totals. These awards will take place at the final competition in Marquette on Saturday February 21st, 2015. For more information on how to participate, contact Chris Gauthier, [email protected] or Jamie Weigold, [email protected] NEW MSHS SKATING COACH ANNOUNCED: MFSC is pleased to announce Jamie Weigold has been hired to coach the MSHS Figure Skating team. Jamie is a Marquette native and has a wealth of skating experience and knowledge. She has experience coaching Collegiate skating here at NMU for a number of years. Her credentials include: 19 years of coaching with the MFSC. For 10 years she has held the position of directing the Ice Show, Basic Skills Director, and Summer Skating Coordinator, along with other numerous duties. She coaches through Senior moves, Gold Dance and Novice Freeskate. In addition to figure skating, Jamie is involved in Superiorland Soccer, running and snowboarding. She has run numerous 5K and 10K races, completed a half marathon and a duathalon. She trains at BCubed fitness 3 days a week with Brett Conklin. Jamie holds a concussion certification through MSYSA and is a certified soccer referee through MSYSA. She has also coached local soccer teams. Current PSA and USFS registered Level B member coach, having completed PSA basic accreditation. We welcome Jamie to her new position! NEW ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR CLUB AND BASIC SKILLS: MFSC has implemented a new online registration for our full club members to purchase ice and membership and also our Basic Skills skaters. You may still pay with a personal check or now use a credit card! Payment plans are still available as last year. With anything new, there are problems to work out, and we have been trying to stay on top of any problems that have come up. Please contact us if you experience any problems. We will be lining up at 4:30 pm and decorating at that time. The parade starts at 5:30pm. The parade will be lining up behind the Superior Dome. We will be joining Whistlers Towing Service and riding and walking along with them. We are asking the kids to wear any Marquette Figure skating shirts they may have to the parade or even their ice show costume if possible, otherwise just come looking presentable. Please let Melissa know if you plan on coming because if interest is low, we may decide to not be in the parade.
