The North Queensland Airports Group (NQA), owner and operator of Cairns and Mackay
Airports, is pleased to announce that Colin Storrie, an executive with deep experience in
both aviation and finance, has been named to its Board of Directors. Mr Storrie will join the
NQA Board on 1 April 2014.
From 2011 - March 2014, Mr Storrie was Group Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of AMP,
one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest and most established wealth management
companies. He was a director of AMP Bank and the Chairman of several AMP financing
companies and previously served as Chief Financial Officer and Board Member for Qantas.
“Colin’s executive and board experience in both aviation and finance will be invaluable to
NQA and its holdings,” said Paul Ryan, CEO of OECD Infrastructure for J.P. Morgan Asset
Management, which holds a majority interest in NQA on behalf of institutional investors and
was responsible for engaging Mr Storrie. “Colin’s expertise is a strong complement to the
existing Board’s deep aviation, business and government experience.”
“The NQA Board of Directors welcomes Colin at a very exciting time as we build out our
development plans at both Cairns and Mackay Airports.” added Marcela Zeman, NQA Board
Chair. "Cairns and Mackay Airports are vital to the region’s economy. Colin’s talents will help
us continue to ensure the airports are making a robust local contribution."
NQA purchased and began operating Cairns Airport and Mackay Airport in 2009. Cairns
Airport is one of the main hubs for visitors to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. In recent years,
the airport has seen a substantial increase in visitors from Asia, particularly China. Mackay
Airport serves central Queensland and the Bowen and Galilee Basins. Both airports are
earmarked for aeronautical and commercial developments to support regional growth.
“Under the Board and management team’s leadership, Cairns and Mackay Airports have
created diverse economic opportunities for their owners, stakeholders and communities,”
Mr Storrie said. “I’m very pleased about joining NQA’s high calibre Board and working with a
first-rate management team, led by Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Brown, to continue this
mission.”
