Together with good old friends and new friends we make along
the way, let’s get ready to celebrate the Icelandic horse and
show our appreciation for this unique horse breed which allows
us so many remarkably enjoyable moments and which plays
such an important part of our lives.
During VM2015 week in Herning we will be given an opportunity
to listen to amazing music, get up and sing or dance and
spend a magical week together. We will toast the winners, give
a comforting pat on the backs of those coming in second, and
we will keep our fingers crossed for everyone, for all riders and
horses ready to enter the competition arena.
Regardless whether your accommodation of choice will be a
five-star hotel, a cozy B&B, a tent or caravan at the VM2015
camp site: you will find all the hospitality and guidance you
might need and desire during the event at Visit Herning and/or
among the hundreds of volunteers who have already signed
up for VM2015, ready to serve you and our unique event.

THE ICELANDIC HORSE
In the Nordic countries around 205.000 Icelandic horses are
registered at present and these strong horses are very popular
among both youngsters and grown-ups, men and women alike
for cross-country activities, leisure-riding and competitions.
The Icelandic horse is patient, adaptable, friendly, uncomplicated
and has an eager yet kind spirit. Originally bred as a riding and
working horse for the Icelandic farmers, it has become an excellent all-around family horse for us today. At the same time,
the diversity within the breed is enormous. You see it instantly
in the amazing variety of colors within a herd, and your can
definitely feel it when you start riding them. Each Icelandic
horse has its very individual character – you can truly find
the perfect fit for everyone. Whether it is a very gentle horse
around which you can feel safe with your children or whether
you desire lots of speed and action for some of the world’s
fastest pace-races, the Icelandic horse is the breed you’re
looking for. Sometime, both of the above descriptions fit the
same horse. Their character is remarkable!
All the six Nordic countries Icelandic horse associations are
members of the International Iceland horse federation, FEIF.
Within FEIF, a total of 19 countries organize their projects,
rulebooks and activities with NIF playing an important part.
“NIF” stands for “Nordic Icelandic horse federation” and it is
this union of the six Nordic countries Denmark, Faroe Islands,
Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, that jointly organizes
VM2015.

Can You Hear the Beat?
Horses, riders and tens of thousands of guests from more than
18 countries will gather in Herning from the break of dawn on
August 3 to the grand finale on August 9.

The World Championships showcase the greatest stars in
sports and breeding from around the globe, bringing them
together in their quest for Gold. Such prestigious events are
held every two years only, guaranteeing a selection of the
world’s finest.
It is these horses and riders that will bring their talents to
Herning for the most impressive competitions for Icelandic
horses that you have ever witnessed. Enjoy the tölt with its

Beyond the sports and breeding competitions in which all
member countries of FEIF, the international Icelandic-horse
federation, will be represented with their top talent, you will
