ENGINE SPACE PROTECTION.
Fire Figting for Engine rooms is two fronts:
1)
Local Application system
For cargo vessels larger than 2000 GT, and for passenger ships above
500 GT, when a machinery space of category A is above 500m3.
2)
A fixed fire-extinguishing system
a) fixed gas fire extinguishing system complying with the FSS code.
b) a fixed high –expansion foam fire-extinguishing system.
c) a fixed pressure water-spraying fire-extinguishing system.
