Students from the Ontario Agriculture College’s (OAC) four
campuses (Alfred, Guelph, Kemptville, and Ridgetown) came
together to participate in a two day inter-campus athletic
competition on January 31 and February 1, providing a unique
opportunity for students to make new friends and share athletic
skills and interests.
In all, 175 degree, diploma, and certificate students participated
in the 2014 OAC Winter Games competing in nine events
including volleyball, basketball, badminton, ice hockey, floor
hockey, bowling, indoor soccer, broomball, and curling. Athletes
and organizers wrapped up the event with a formal banquet and
awards program held at Willson Hall.
Badminton - Ridgetown Campus Students
“The Ridgetown community generously provided key facilities to host
this event, and we were fortunate to have the opportunity to utilize the
Ridgetown High School, Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club, Ridgetown
Arena, Ridgetown Bowling Lanes, and Naahii Ridge Public School, in
addition to our own Don J. Pestell Auditorium, to accommodate all of
these athletic activities,” notes Ken McEwan, Campus Director. “Our
sincere appreciation is extended to the Ridgetown community for your
ongoing support to our campus activities.”
Enjoying a hometown advantage, Ridgetown Campus students took home
award medals in each sporting category, and were excellent hosts to
fellow OAC visitors.
Special thanks to campus Recreation and Residence Co-ordinator, Vicki
King, for her excellent leadership in co-ordinating the athletes, as well as
the many student, staff and alumni volunteers who contributed to the
events overall success.
