The head of Department
acknowledges the contributions of all staff in the Department for the year ending
2014. The cooperation and
synergy from staff on the
day-to-day administration of
academic activities during
the period under review
have been unequalled, unparalled and uncontroverted.
The year ending 2014 has
been rewarding and marvel-
lours. The Almighty God,
Omnipotent, Omniscience,
the I AM that I AM, the
Ancient of Days, the greater
than the greatest, the higher
than the highest, the beginning and the ending has
been very good, wonderful
and marvellous to us all.
My special thanks to the
Creator of heaven and earth.

PROMOTI ON S
It was a season of celebration
indeed for us in the Department of
Physics as we witnessed tremendous promotions.
(1) Dr. E. O. Ogolo has been prima
-facie qualified for the post of
Professor.
(2) Dr. A. I. Popoola has been promoted to the grade of Senior
Lecturer
(3) Mr. B. O. Ogunsua has been
promoted to the rank of Lecturer
II
(4) Dr. Y. A. Odusote has been
promoted to the post of Lecturer
I.
(5) Dr. A. V. Akpan has also been
promoted to the rank of Lecturer I.
(6) Our Secretary, Mrs G. A. MoyinJesu, was not left out of the promotion exercise, as she has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief
Confidential Secretary
(7) Mr. J. A Fatile has been promoted
to the grade of Technologist I.
(8) Similarly, the rank of Mr.
Akinsulire I. O. is now Head Laboratory Assistant.

What shall we say other than
give thanks to the Lord of
Lords, God of all gods for His
mercy and favour towards us all
in this Department. A songwriter wrote “…count your
blessings and name them one
by one and we will be surprised
at what God has done for us
individually and corporately as

within the year
 Prof. M. O. Ajewole was

 Prof. I. A. Fuwape was reelected Dean, SOS and
appointed Chairman, Committee of Deans within the
same year.
 Dr. Y. A. Odusote bagged a
PhD degree from UI
within the year
 Miss M. I. Oloniyo completed her M.Sc. in Radiotherapy from UK.
 Miss M. I. Oloniyo was
elevated from a spinister
to a married woman within the year.
 Mr. T. M. Ajayi gained
admission for M.Sc. degree in UK.
Aside all these,
 Prof. B. Adeyemi, Dr. E.
O. Ogolo and Dr. K. D.
Adedayo
successfully
attended a climate symposium organized by
EUMESTAT at Darmstadt, Germany.
 Dr. J. S. Ojo successfully
completed a Post-doctoral
fellowship in South Africa.
 Dr. K. D. Adedayo’s sabbatical leave to Elizade
University, Ilara-Mokin
has been approved by the
University management.
 Mr. I. B. Ibikunle will be
proceeding on a split PhD
programme to University
Mangalore, India

The Department of Physics, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo
State, Nigeria is one of the leading departments in the University. The
department was established in 1982 with the inception of the University.
The programme of the Department is therefore designed to give students the
required academic and practical background in Condensed Matter Physics,
Atmospheric Physics, Radiation and Health Physics, Communication
Physics and Electronic Instrumentation Physics. The products of this programme can be easily employed in the communication, aviation and oil
industry as well as research laboratories. They can also be self employed.

Mr. Ajayi Tolulope wins
Commonwealth Scholarship:
Mr. T. M. Ajayi has won a
Commonwealth scholarship
for an M.Sc. in New and Renewable Energy, United Kingdom. Mr.
Ajayi Tolulope is a graduate
assistant in the department of
Physics. Mr. Ajayi graduated
from the department with a
first class degree in the year
2011. The university in a bid
to stem brain drain in the educational institution and encourage hard work has a policy of retaining first class graduates produced within the
university.
Miss M. I. Oloniyo marched
to the altar:
November 7 & 8, 2014 were
joyous days for the entire
members of the Department
as one of the industrious
members of staff, Miss M. I.
Oloniyo got married to her
better half, Mr. Akerele. Happy married life to you—Mrs.
M. I. Akerele.
Prof. Ajewole elected as
Dean SPGS:
A reformer
and an astute administrator,
Prof. M. O. Ajewole has been
elected as the Dean, School
of Postgraduate Studies,
FUT, Akure!
In a keenly
contested election, Prof.
Ajewole won and has since
taken over the helms of affair of the School.
Double celebration as Miss
M. I. Oloniyo bags a M.Sc.
Nuclear Physics degree
In addition to a wedding ceremony this year, Miss M. I.
Oloniyo also bagged an
M.Sc. Degree in Physics and
Technology of Nuclear Reactor at
United Kingdom. She is radiating!
Dr. J. S. Ojo returns from
Postdoctoral fellowship in
South Africa
Dr. J. S. Ojo has returned
from a postdoctoral fellowship to the University of Technolog, Umlazi-Kwazulu Natal,
South African.
