PowerSchool Security Groups Version 1.7 · Updated April 16, 2014 Schools are responsible for maintaining who has access to PowerSchool. Power Users can provide access to the school or remove access from the school by using the Security Settings page in PowerSchool. All Power Users should attend a System Administration for Power Users training session to learn how to manage access to PowerSchool. The charts on the following pages provide additional details for each Security Group/Role available in PowerSchool. Please note that this information will be subject to change as additional features within PowerSchool are enabled. The following Security Groups/Roles are currently available for schools in PowerSchool: Security Group Academic History Attendance and Enrollment Behavior and Scheduling Course Requests Enroll In A Class At Another School Illuminate/DataDirector Access Power User School Administration Description and additional information Special Programs View Only The Academic History security group/role provides access to maintain historical grades in PowerSchool. The Attendance and Enrollment security group/role provides access to Attendance and Enrollment information in PowerSchool. The Behavior and Scheduling security group/role provides access to Behavior and Scheduling information in PowerSchool. The Course Requests security group/role provides access to add Course Requests in PowerScheduler. School staff who attended Course Request training for PowerSchool were provided with Course Requests access. This role should be used to provide limited access to someone from another school who needs to assist with scheduling students at your school. This role should be used for staff members who do not have students rostered to them, such as administrators, resource teachers, counselors. Please note that this role will not provide any access to PowerSchool. Please refer to the job aid available here. The Power User security group/role provides access to most features in PowerSchool. This group/role should be used for secondary site technicians and others who share similar responsibilities. Each school should have at least one Power User designated. It is recommended that your site identify a back-up Power User as well. School staff who attended Build and Load training for PowerSchool were provided with Power User access. The School Administration security group/role provides access to most features in PowerSchool. This group/role should be used for principals, vice principals, and other school administrators. This role should be used to provide access to maintain Special Programs in PowerSchool. Please note that Special Programs can only be modified in certain cases. Early Childhood, Continuation, and Independent Study programs can be modified by schools at this time. Additional programs will be available for editing in the future. The View Only security group/role provides read-only access to PowerSchool. District staff who request district-wide, read-only access are provided with View Only access.
