REMINDER
Dear Soleng Tom Families,
Grandparent Luncheon:
A tremendous THANK YOU to our wonderful PTSA members who
with the help of volunteers were able to deliver another wonderful
Grandparent Luncheon. A special thanks goes out to Lisa Wedman
once again for coordinating and making it happen. Terrific job Mrs.
Wedman, we all greatly appreciate your time and commitment!
School Council Election Results: We are pleased to announce the following parents were elected as members of Soleng Tom Elementary
School Council for the 2014-15 school year. Congratulations Mari
Shryock, Lisa Wedman, Joiel Goerke, Chris Hambacher, Mindy Harper.
Student Drop-off/Pick-up:
Please exercise patience and courtesy when dropping-off /picking-up
your child (ren). Again, please remember that our bus bay is not to be
used as a drop-off/pick-up area. The parking area just past the bus bay
is for staff parking only. FYI, for any who may not know there are two
access ways to/from our school playground that can be utilized to help
alleviate some of the congestion in our parking lot. One of these access
ways leads south from our playground to Calle de Este and the other
east from the playground to Ave. del Monte .
Open Enrollment :
Information for Open Enrollment school year 2015 - 2016 will be coming soon. Please visit TUSD’s website, www.tusd1.org , after the fall
break for any news on Open Enrollment. As soon as we receive information regarding Open Enrollment for the 2015-16 school year we will
make sure to share with all our families
Parking Outside School Grounds:
Please be aware of area designated as “No Parking” and also our neighbors driveways and mailboxes by not blocking them. TPD (Tucson Police Department) occasionally visit schools so please be aware of where
you are parking. I was informed that it is illegal to make a “U” turn in
certain areas so please be careful… don’t want anyone getting cited.

HEALTH OFFICE
CORNER
SEVERE ALLERGIES AT SCHOOL
As a reminder, we have many
students at Soleng Tom with
severe allergies. These include
nut,
shellfish
and
latex
allergies. Exposure for some of
our kiddos can result in an
extremely dangerous health crisis.
Please
contact
the
office or work closely with your
child’s teacher before sending in
food treats or other items that
may effect these children.
Thanks
for
being
extra careful to make sure all
our students are healthy and
safe.
Attendance Awareness
Research shows that students who have good school attendance do better on standardized tests.
However, students that are frequently absent score lower. Being late for school hurts a child's learning, too. A student who is 10 minutes late every day will miss 30 hours of instruction during the year.
Learning comes alive when a child is actively involved in discussions, questions, and explanations
by the teacher. This is not able to happen if children are not present.
Essentially, your child's success in school depends on having a solid educational background - one
that can only be gained through regular school attendance.
Thank you Soleng Tom parents for your support. We appreciate you!
Kindly,
Martha Damek
