Titre du sujet : Immuno-Inflammation in cardiometabolic diseases
Descriptif du sujet proposé (ne pas dépasser le cadre) :
Our team is interested in delineating the role of mononuclear phagocytes (monocytes, macrophages and
dendritic cells) in atherosclerotic lesion development and other metabolic and chronic inflammatory diseases
such as obesity. Particular emphasis will be given to the crosstalk between mononuclear phagocytes, gut
microbiota and cholesterol/carbohydrate metabolisms.
Based on our recent observations that changes in the size of the dendritic cell (DC) pool in the mouse control
immunity and plasma cholesterol levels (transgenic mice models depleted or enriched in DCs), we aim to
identify which DC subset controls immunity and cholesterolemia in the context of atherosclerosis as well as
the associated mechanism(s). With regard to the regulation of plasma cholesterol levels, we are exploring how
intestinal DCs-dependent control of gut microbiota impacts on cholesterol and bile acids metabolism,
consequently influencing absorption, bioavailability as well as excretion of cholesterol. Along these lines, the
role of DCs subsets in obesity is also evaluated. Finally, our group is interested in delineating macrophage
diversity and specific functions (resident versus monocyte-derived) in metabolic diseases.
