WHAT IS PBS?
Positive Behavior Support (PBS) gives people a new way to think about behavior.
PBS is based on understanding why problem behaviors occur - the behavior's
function. This approach to behavior can occur on a school-wide level, in a specific
setting, classroom, or with an individual student. PBS is the application of evidencebased strategies and systems to assist schools to increase academic performance,
increase safety, decrease problem behavior, and establish positive school cultures(1)

The LHS PBS Team aims to analyze, evaluate, and implement effective strategies
designed specifically for Liberty High School that align with the school and district’s
goals of RELATIONSHIPS, RIGOR, RELEVANCE, and RESULTS. By establishing
relationships with our students while providing engaging rigor, we hope to show our
students the relevance of what they learn, both academically and socially, will bring
life-long positive results. (2) Behavior should never impede learning.
“If you want to change attitudes, start with a
change in behavior.”
