Investigations During the course of our routine administration of the ADS Code of Conduct, we have identified and dealt with 11 numbers of potential breaches of the Code, seven were confirmed breaches. As a result the following actions were taken: 4. One corrective action was required Two ITOs were placed on probation Two ITOs are still under investigations Four tour guides were given demerit points PKP updates In 2014, TNZ increased the programme to 19 PKP travel agencies across China (five in Beijing, seven in Shanghai, one in Hangzhou, two in Guangzhou and four in Shenzhen) and 12 Inbound Tour Operators(ITO) in New Zealand. For a full list of PKP travel sellers, please click here. Focus of this year’s PKP programme is to promote mono-New Zealand quality group tours and also FIT products. 5. “Dad, where are we going?” Since the last two episodes of TV reality show “Dad, Where are we going?” (“Dad”) aired, a marketing campaign has gone live in China promoting New Zealand as a holiday destination, featuring some of the experiences and regions visited by the celebrities. For more information click here. In conjunction with the marketing campaign, travel trade partners will be selling official Dad itineraries, in addition, our trade team has also put together four suggested itineraries (in Chinese) ranging from six days to 15 days in New Zealand for trade partners to use and promote. Suggested itineraries are available here. 6. Tour guides events We have now extended the deadline for you to register your interest in in attending: 1) tour guide Up-skilling Workshop (focus on Maori tourism), and 2) Cocktail Function – Awards Night; both are free of charge to you. The new deadline for registration is Tuesday 31 March 2015. Please register by emailing to [email protected]. This is a great opportunity, not only you are provided with a free workshop by a professional trainer, you are also meeting with other tour guides to celebrate the success and receive awards for doing a great job in tour guiding services in the past year. Without your commitment, we are not able to proceed any further in organising and coordinating either of the two events. 3 7. Shopping We have become aware that organised shopping activity has returned to the itinerary for the ADS tour groups. We would like to remind that organised shopping is to form NO part of the itinerary and should your clients/Chinese visitors request to go shopping , a signed copy of a consent form from visitors on the tour group needs to be obtained by either the Chinese travel seller and/or the responsible ADS ITO. 8. Tour coaches We are expecting the ADS market to be very busy over summer and there will be a lot of opportunities, with likely pressure on supply creating good opportunities for operators with star graded vehicles. If you know someone who wants to operate in this market, star grading is a requirement and now is the time to get ready. VTNZ and Bus and Coach Association are both happy to explain the requirements and the process. Key contact is Tania Allison at BCA, she can be contacted at [email protected], or 04 499 7334. Star grading is in place to ensure visitors have the best experience possible by ensuring consistent standards of coaches, accommodation and tour guides etc. Both the New Zealand and Chinese governments are committed to grading and quality assurance programmes as the best way to be satisfied the agreed standards are being met at all times. BCA have checked with VTNZ and the internal process, it should be possible in most circumstances to complete the whole process within a week, including the time for an operator to receive the star grading decals. It could be as quick as three days in larger centres. The associated cost of the initial inspection is $103 and recheck is $26. If you have any questions, please email to [email protected]. Thanks, China Market Development Unit 4
