PARISH INFORMATION
BAPTISM: The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at 1:30 PM on the Second Sunday of the month in Spanish and the
Third Sunday of the month in English. Parents need to contact the rectory to set up an appointment to make arrangements
for the baptism of their child and register for the baptismal class which is held the First Tuesday of each month in Spanish
and the Second Tuesday of each month in English. Baptisms in Vietnamese can be arranged by contacting Fr. Vincent.
EL BAUTISMO: El sacramento del Bautismo es celebrado a la 1:30 PM cada Segundo domingo del mes en español y
cada tercer domingo del mes en Inglés. Los padres del niño/a deben pedir una cita con la rectoría para ponerse de acuerdo
con requisitos para el bautismo y también inscribirse para la charla pre bautismal que se lleva acabo cada primer martes
del mes en español y cada segundo martes del mes en ingles. Los bautismos en vietnamita pueden ser arreglados con el
Padre Vicente.

Not too long ago, I was preaching at another Church on
the topic of abortion, and I encouraged the faithful
present to pray the rosary for an end to its practice. After
Mass a woman approached me with the critique that I
should be promoting other, more practical solutions to the
problem. To quote her she said, “So you pray a rosary, and
then what?” To her it seemed that while the rosary may be
helpful devotionally, it really has no power practically
speaking to attain concrete, practical ends. However, in
the Church, this month of October is the month of the
rosary, and this past Tuesday, October 7, we celebrated
the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. And the history of this
feast day, the history behind widespread devotion to the
rosary, demonstrates that it is perhaps the most powerful
weapon we possess to attain very practical results which
without recourse to divine assistance would be beyond our
power to achieve.
This history behind this feast day takes us back to the year
1571 when the Turkish Ottoman Empire began to direct its
ambitions and forces toward the West. On October 7 of
that year what became known as the Holy League, an
alliance of Western European Catholic states, joined naval
forces to try and ward off the encroaching Ottoman fleet.
Pope Pius V, knowing the might of the Turkish navy and
aware that the Christian forces were at a distinct
disadvantage, called for all of Europe to pray the rosary
for victory, and he himself led a rosary procession in Rome.
At what has become the very famous naval Battle of
Lepanto, the Catholic fleet was victorious, and halted any
further advance of the Ottoman Empire into the West.
Historians argue that because of this battle we are
Christians and not Muslims, that we speak English and not
Arabic. And it’s all due to the power of the rosary.
This Monday, October 13th at 7pm in our Church, I invite
you all to come and share in this power. On Monday night,
Holy Innocents will host the last of a series of Fatima Holy
Hours for peace with Eucharistic adoration and the
recitation of the Most Holy Rosary. Beginning May 13, 1917,
our Lady appeared to three children in Fatima, Portugal
every month on the 13th day up through October 13th.
During her July 13th apparition she said, “Pray the rosary
every day in honor of our Lady of the Rosary to obtain
peace in the world…for she alone can save it.” Today, our
world is suffering from strife among nations, violence in our
streets, and division in our homes. Ours is a world in
desperate need of God’s peace, and history has shown and
our Lady has revealed that the rosary has the power to
achieve it. So I fervently request your presence at
Monday’s holy hour right here in our own Church so that
we all might be part of the peace that can only be
effected through the incomparable power of the rosary.

MEMORIAL GUILD
The parish Memorial Guild receives donations in honor of living and
deceased loved ones, for purchasing sacred vessels, vestments,
altar appointments, etc., which from time to time need to be
refurbished or replaced. Mass is offered each month for those
enrolled in the Guild.

On Sunday, November 2, 2014 Holy Innocents Parish will remember
all of our beloved deceased relatives and friends. We will remember by
name all those who have been buried from Holy Innocents in the past
year at the 10:00 AM Mass in English, 12:00 PM Mass in Spanish,
5:00 PM Mass. in Vietnamese.

We are so grateful for all those who serve in our liturgical
ministries: Choir, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and Ushers.
We are also looking to encourage more parishioners to be

On Saturday Morning, 11/8/14 there will be Liturgical Ministers Workshop
for all Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and Choir Members. It will begin with
8:00 Mass. There will be coffee/ donuts in the Rectory Meeting Room
followed by the workshop which will end by 11:00 AM. We hope that you

problemas para que vengan los invitados. Él
invita a pobres y a ricos, pero todos deben venir
preparados para la ocasión. Esta preparación
comienza desde nuestra iniciación bautismal.
Mientras profundizamos en la vida cristiana,
estamos preparando nuestro traje de fiesta para
llegar al banquete de bodas del Cordero de Dios
en la Eucaristía. Éste es nuestro Dios de quien
esperamos la salvación, y nos alegramos de que
nos salve. Todos estamos invitados y no se
aceptan excusas. ¡Responde por favor!

Si Ud. está interesado en servir como lector o ministro
de la eucaristía, favor de comunicarse con el Padre

Bautismo de los Niños
Si quiere bautizar a un niño, hay que
llamar a la rectoría al 215-743-2600
para hacer una cita con un sacerdote
para arreglar los detalles del bautismo.
No se puede ir a la clase pre-bautismal
sin haberse reunido con el sacerdote
primero. También, para bautizar en los
Santos Inocentes hay que estar
registrado aquí. Se puede hacer una cita para registrarse, o se
puede registrar cuando venga para hablar del bautismo.
Finalmente, cuando está escogiendo a sus padrinos, tenga en
cuenta que la responsabilidad principal de un padrino es dar
buen ejemplo al ahijado de lo que es vivir bien la fe católica.
Por eso, para ser padrino, hay que haber recibido todos los
sacramentos (bautismo, confirmación, comunión), estar registrado
y participando en la iglesia (en esta parroquia u otra), y si es
casado, ser casado por la Iglesia.
Gracias por su atención en estos asuntos. Que Dios le
brinde muchas bendiciones a su familia.

¿Quiénes son los invitados al banquete de
amor, a nuestra Eucaristía? El rey de la
parábola de hoy invita a todos los que quieran
a unirse al banquete de su hijo porque los
primeros invitados no aceptaron tal invitación.
Como Jesucristo hizo, así también nosotros
debemos mantener una actitud y unos gestos
abiertos que reflejen nuestro deseo de invitar a
todos los que buscan a Dios. En la liturgia de
hoy, Dios aparece como la fuente de paz y
reconciliación. ¿Acaso somos sus agentes o, por
el contrario, rechazamos a ciertos miembros de
la sociedad con quienes no estamos de acuerdo, o cuya apariencia no coincide con la
nuestra? Quizá nos parecen extraños al ritmo
de nuestra vida. ¿Cómo nos atrevemos a
participar del banquete eucarístico, símbolo y
anticipo del banquete celestial, si no
extendemos nuestros brazos en señal de
bienvenida a todos los que Dios ama e invita a
Su banquete?

BÀI ĐỌC I: Is 25, 6-10a
"Chúa mời đến dự tiệc của Người và lau sạch
nước mắt trên mọi khuôn mặt".
Trích sách Tiên tri Isaia.
Ngày ấy, Chúa các đạo binh sẽ thết tất cả các dân
trên núi này một bữa tiệc đầy thịt rượu, thịt thì béo,
rượu thì ngon. Trên núi này, Người sẽ cất khăn tang
bao trùm muôn dân và tấm khăn liệm trải trên mọi
nước. Người tiêu diệt sự chết đến muôn đời. Thiên
Chúa sẽ lau sạch nước mắt trên mọi khuôn mặt, và
cất bỏ khỏi toàn mặt đất sự tủi hổ của dân Người, vì
Người đã phán. Ngày đó, người ta sẽ nói: Này đây
Chúa chúng ta. Đây là Chúa, nơi Người, chúng ta đã
tin tưởng, chúng ta hãy hân hoan và vui mừng vì ơn
Người cứu độ, vì Chúa sẽ đặt tay của Người trên núi

1) Chúa chăn dắt tôi, tôi chẳng thiếu thốn chi; trên
đồng cỏ xanh rì, Người thả tôi nằm nghỉ. Tới nguồn
nước, chỗ nghỉ ngơi, Người hướng dẫn tôi; tâm hồn
tôi, Người lo bồi dưỡng.
2) Người dẫn tôi qua những con đường đoan chính,
