Please consider joining “Gang of Four” in representing the Michigan Academy in Washington D. C. The PPW always presents an interesting and informative agenda. The details of the 2014 agenda are not announced but the topics are always timely and are not typical for an Academy meeting. In 2013, the theme was “Nutrition from the ground up”. The presenters featured farm to table nutrition policy. The highlight of the PPW is always the visits to Capitol Hill. Each delegate is assigned to a team and the teams visit Representatives and Senators to communicate the Academy’s Public Policy position on selected, timely topics. It is always exhilarating and exciting to walk the halls of congress and meet with elected officials who make the decisions which shape public policy. If you are interested in attending the 2014 Public Policy Workshop, the Academy’s website www.eatright.org has a section on how to line up a spot at the workshop, including selling the idea to your boss. The deadline for early discount is March 7th and registration closes March 21st, 2014. Workshop participants will learn the central theme; “If dietetics is your profession, public policy should be your passion.” Affiliate Challenge Program By Karen Host, MS, RD W ant to help boost the Michigan Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership?
