They are considered the basis in learning and understanding the other science subjects. Basic Sciences contribute in all branches of Engineering, Industry, Management, and Metrology and Research. We can bring revolution in our Education, Industry and latest Modern Technologies, if we have good scientists in Basic Sciences. The aim of Department of Basic Sciences is to pursue excellence in teaching and research by developing appropriate curricula and teaching practices, acquiring talented faculty and providing an environment conducive to teaching and learning. The department provides service to the entire University, from undergraduate students to graduate students in Basic Sciences courses and other departments which need to upgrade the quantitative skills in Basic Sciences of their students. The department has also signed MOUs with research organizations, such as National Centre for Physics (NCP), Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). 01 Riphah International University To promote educational “Jihad” to establish an ethically motivated, committed, hardworking, knowledgeable and sensible society. Programs Offered Departments Collobrations 1. National Center for Physics (NCP) 2. Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) Department of Mathematics Mathematics is one of the oldest academic disciplines of the basic sciences. It is considered the basis in learning and understanding the science subjects. This is why it is called “Mother of All Sciences”. Mathematicians can contribute in diverse fields, such as in all Basic Sciences, all branches of Engineering, Industry, Management, and Metrology in Teaching and Research. We believe that if we have good and Competent Mathematicians, we can bring revolution in our Education, Industry and latest Modern Technologies. The department endeavours to educate its students by providing them exposure to real-life problems, and inculcating in them a problem solving approach. They are encouraged to explore, solve problems, break new grounds and cultivate leadership qualities. The department aims to establish and promote Riphah as a leading University for teaching and research in Mathematical Sciences both within Pakistan and Internationally. Department of Physics The M.Phil. / M.S. in Physics is designed primarily for the students who want to prepare for the career path which takes advantage of the diverse and expanding opportunities in industrial, strategic organization and universities. The program provides a solid foundation in the concepts of physics as well as giving the students the experience and understanding of application of these concepts. M.Phil / MS physics is minimum 2- years (4- semester) master degree program comprising 50 credit hours in total. Department of Statistics Statistics conceive pragmatic solutions in the presence of uncertainty. Think critically particularly with respect to conceiving multiple explanations for observed phenomena (this is key in the understanding of most statistical concepts e.g. statistical testing, inference, design, model construction and diagnostics etc), and choosing between these: Appropriate data collection; Formulate analysis suitable to answer their own or their clients' questions, both under ideal data or within the constraints of available data; Identify data limitations with respect to their ability to answer specific questions; Convey potentially complex results simply every nation for the development of its Socio-Economic setup. To meet such challenges department of statistics started M.Phil classes in 2001. The study of M.Phil is based on two years training. During the first & second semesters, students undergo the course work and in their remaining year, they are given research task. Moreover, this M.Phil. is a leading Programme towards Ph.D. Introduction M.Sc programs are designed for students who wish to continue their studies with rummaging deeply in the particular fields or subjects. M.Sc programs are offered to provide students with first hand knowledge, stregthened concepts and exemplifying experiments to nourish their brains with formulating education of masters level. Major contribution to research at Riphah is from this department. Master of Science (M.Sc) List of Courses Programs Offered M.Phil Mathematics Courses Department of Mathematics Department of Basic Sciences 04 The graduate program is backed by the intensive research in a wide range of fields. This places the department in contact with many modern users of Mathematics, making the program both relevant and up to date. However, the largest concentration of the research efforts within the Department of Mathematics would be in three disciplines: Pure Mathematics (Algebra, Topology, etc), Applied Mathematics (Fluid Mechanics, etc) and Computational Mathematics (Numerical Analysis, Financial Mathematics, Integral Inequalities, Modelling and Simulation and Computational Fluid Dynamics, etc) Department of Physics The M.Phil / M.S in Physics is designed primarily for the students who want to prepare for the career path which takes advantage of the diverse and expanding opportunities in industrial, strategic organization and universities.
