Lectureship positions in the Department of Information Technology
We seek to appoint a lecturer in Mathematics, Statistics and Operation Research. The
appointee will report to the Programme Head and will be expected to co-ordinate and
present lectures in Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research in the Department.
Senior academics at higher levels are welcome to apply.
Duties and responsibilities:
 Teaching and learning of the relevant subjects in the Department.
 Research in a relevant field of speciality.
 Supervision of postgraduate students.
 Academic citizenship.
 Curriculum and programme development.
 Academic administration and subject management.
Minimum Requirements

Masters’ degree in Mathematics and/or Statistics/Operation Research or related
field

3 years’ lecturing experience.

Commitment towards a Doctorate in Mathematics and/or Statistics/Operation
Research.
The successful candidate must have expertise in several of the following areas:

Statistics

Algebra

Calculus

Operations Research.

Applied Maths for Computing.

Discrete Maths.

Discrete/Continuous Optimization

Linear/Non-linear Optimization

Working knowledge of statistical packages (SAS, R, SPSS and Excel) is
essential.


All Levels: Good interpersonal skills, communication and computer skills, Good
organisational and planning skills and the ability to function with ease in English in the
working environment. Ability to work as part of a team.
All short-listed candidates will be required to do a presentation at the interview.
