PWT’s partnership with Drink Local. Drink Tap, Inc. (DLDT), the non-profit organization that connects people to their local watershed, raised over $60,000 that will contribute to building a new water well in Uganda. Over 1,500 people from all over the northeast Ohio community came together to learn about clean water, and enjoy recreation, friendly competition, food trucks, and a free reggae concert. PWT was the sole provider and source of water at this zero waste event. The Cleveland and Atlanta based company teamed up with DLDT last summer to start planning this large scale, unique event to spread the DLDT mission, raise funds and inspire people to appreciate our water. 4 Miles 4 Water broke the Guinness World Record for the most people carrying a container of water on their head at one time with 508 participants, thus breaking the previously held record of 474. The Guinness World Record was pursued in the 4 Miles 4 Water programming as a way to educate participants and illustrate that around the world many people walk far distances everyday to haul water, many times balancing it on their head. The average length traveled for clean water in Uganda is four miles.
