I welcome all the aspiring students to the Centralized Admissions to
Class-XI in various Schools run by Chandigarh Administration and
assure that Education Department will work earnestly to ensure that
admissions take place in a transparent and student friendly manner. I

MESSAGE BY THE DIRECTOR PUBLIC INSTRUCTION(S)
It gives me immense pleasure to release the prospectus for Centralized
Admission to Class XI in Govt. Sr. Sec. Schools of Chandigarh for the
academic session 2014-2015. This prospectus aims to provide the parents
and students the complete information about various schools and streams
being offered with number of seats available.
Education Department has taken certain initiatives to improve the
quality of Education in our schools. We strive to provide an affordable,
accessible and quality education to the students of Chandigarh. Schools will
also work for all around development of the students through multifarious
activities.
With each new session we make a conscious effort to respond to the
needs of the changing society. My advice to the students of Class XI is to
select a stream of their interest and strike a healthy balance between
academic and co-curricular activities to obtain quality education. The
prospectus serves as a handbook providing information about all the
courses and streams available, as well as, the requirements of all the
courses, thereby enabling the students to make the correct choice. I wish the

A candidate shall be eligible to get
admission to Class XI:·

Matriculation Examination from Central
Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi
or any other Recognized Board or its
equivalent Examination recognized by
C.B.S.E.
Students who have appeared in Xth Class
examination from C.B.S.E. and have
obtained minimum 'D' Grade in all the
subjects, excluding 6th additional subject
will be eligible for admission. Similarly, the
candidate from other boards will be eligible
if he/she has been declared 'PASS' by the
respective board.
If he/she has not passed higher Examination
or equivalent of any other recognized
Board/University.

Admission Form for Admission in class
XI in all the Govt. Sr. Sec. Schools can be
obtained from any of the following schools:

Only one Registration Form is to be filed up by
the candidate seeking admission to Class XI in
any govt. school along with preference of school
and stream in relevant columns. A candidate can
fill up the Codes of fifteen Govt. Schools and
streams of his/her choice in the Registration
Form in order of preference.
7.
Registration Form is to be submitted by
20-6-2014 in the schools mentioned at Point
(2). Admission Form duly filled is to be submitted
on the day of counselling in the school where seat
has been allotted i.e. on 2nd July and 3rd July,
2014.

At the time of filling up of option of school and
stream, code as given at page no. 11 is to be filled
(maximum 15 options)
9.
Candidates can also fill up two additional
preferences (16 & 17) from Govt. Sr. Sec.
Schools (Non Model) near their residence. These
preferences will be considered in case seat could
not be allotted from first 15 preferences.
Applicants are required to fill up Registration
Form only in their hand writing and submit it on
or before 20-6-2014 by1.00 P.M. at
GMSSS. Sector-10, GMSSS. Sector-28,
GMSSS. Sector 37-B, GMSSS. Sector-46
GGMSSS. Sector 20-B,
GMSSS. Modern Complex, Manimajra

Registration Form can also be downloaded from
the website of Education Department
Chandigarh Administration i.e.
www.chdeducation.gov.in Downloaded
Registration form will be accepted with cash
amount of Rs. 130/- in the schools mentioned at
point (2) above.
Candidate can fill up "Registration Form" online
on the website of Education Department i.e.
www.chdeducation.gov.in After completion of
all the entries of "Registration Form," a print out
is to be taken and the same is to be deposited
along with attested copies of Certificates in the
schools as mentioned at Point (2) above. Print out
of Registration Form filled up 'Online" will be
accepted with cash amount of Rs. 130/- and
prospectus having admission form will be issued.
Admission Form duly filled is to be submitted on
the day of Counselling/Admission in the school
where seat has been allotted i.e. on 2nd & 3rd July
2014.
Registration Form Should be accompained by
self attested copies of :(i) Marks sheet/Report Card of Xth class
(ii) Character certificate from the head of
the institute last attended.
10. A candidate cannot change his/her preference of
school & stream given in the Registration Form
before the completion of 1st Round of
counselling.
11. Single Registration Form submitted by the
candidate will be considered for admission in all
the Govt. Schools and for all the streams i.e.
Science/Commerce/Humanities and Vocational.
Seats will be allotted on the basis of merit
position, availability of seats in a particular
school/stream and preferences given.
12. Registration Form must be signed by
parent/guardian.
13. The applicant seeking admission will paste a
copy of his/her recent passport size photograph
on Registration Form.
14. Incomplete Registration Form will not be
entertained.

C.B.S.E., the numerical marks will be
converted into Grades as per following table
Common merit will be prepared on the basis of
grades obtained in class Xth in the following 5

In case the candidate had opted for more
than one language (in addition to English) in
class Xth examination, the language in
which the candidate has secured higher
grades will be considered (in lieu of
language II). In case Language-II is not
offered by School Board, grades obtained
by the candidate in any other subject will be
considered. In case of Open School
Examination, grade in any 5 subjects on the
basis of which the candidate has been
declared successful will be taken. For
subject having practical/internal weightage
(except mentioned above) more than 20%
will not be added at the time of preparing of
merit list.

(A) If two or more candidates are having
same total grade point (CGPA) then a
candidate getting higher grade point as
mentioned under "1st Tie" will rank higher
in order of merit.
(B) If two or more candidates having same total
grade point as mentioned under "1st Tie"
then the candidates having higher grade
point as mentioned under "Subsequent Tie"
will rank higher in order of merit.
(C) If two or more candidates are having
same total grade point, under 1st Tie and
subsequent Tie, the candidate having higher
%age of marks as supplied by CBSE (Five
subjects taken to prepare the merit) shall
rank higher in order of merit.

Candidate may check his/her status in the
merit, other particulars such as category,
gender, preferences. grades and in case, there
is any discrepancy/objection, that must be
intimated in writing to Mr. Shiv Kumar
Sharma Dy. D.E.O. at Grievance Redressal
Cell set up at GMSSS-19 and GMSSS-16, Chd
latest by 28th June by 02:00 PM. "Tie" point
will be settled at the time of allotment of

www.chdeducation.gov.in In this list, names
of all those candidates who have been allotted
seats in various schools will be included.
Deposit of Fees in Respective Schools
1. Candidate will report in the school, where
he/she has been allotted seat and deposit the
fee on 2nd & 3rd July 2014 at 9:00 AM.
Candidates will report along with filled in
Admission Form, latest photograph, original
and attested copies of certificates.

At the time of deposit of fees all documents
and details submitted at the time of filling up of
Registration form will be re-checked by the
respective schools. In case there is any

General Conduct Rules
(i) To ensure that each student may enjoy the full
benefits of the facilities placed at his/her
disposal, he/she has to abide by the conduct
rules and regulations of the institution. These
are solely designed to safeguard the welfare
of students and are liable to change without
notice. The students are advised to keep
themselves informed about the day-to-day
instruction. A plea of ignorance of any rule
cannot be accepted as an excuse for breaking
it.
(ii) Students are expected to behave with decorum
and to pay due respect to the faculty and
subordinate officials. Every member of staff
has authority to forbid disorderly behaviour
within the institution.
Young Scientists - displaying their

(iii) Loud talking, loitering or congregating in the
corridor, being source of disturbance and
annoyance to others is not permitted.
(iv) Late arrival and early departure at or from a
school are recorded as absence from the
school.
(v) It is misdemeanor to interfere with any
apparatus or enter any lab/room other than
directed.
(vi) No student has any authority over the
employees of the institution.
(vii) Tools and other machinery must be left in good
order after use. If damaged, the fact must be
immediately reported for necessary action.
Joining hands to keep the environment
neat and clean
(viii)The students at the institute require attention
and diligence. A student neglecting his studies
and showing unsatisfactory progress will be
given two warnings after which if he fails to
improve will be liable for expulsion from the
institution.
(ix) Students shall observe all safety precautions.
The institution is not responsible for
accident of whatsoever nature in the school /
workshop / playground/ work place. The
Institution shall not be responsible for any
untoward incident while commuting between
home to school, school to home and to any
training place.

General Conduct Rules
(x) Students are not allowed to use mobile phone
in the school campus. Action will be taken by
the school authorities against the defaulters.
XII. However this change shall be
permissible only from Science to
Commerce and Humanities streams and
not vice versa.
(xi) Conduct inconsistent with general school
rules or persistent neglect of work or failure to
respond promptly to official notice may be
punished with levy of fines and even expulsion
from the school in the interest of general
discipline by the Principal.
(e) Not withstanding the above, the
Chairman of CBSE has the power to
allow a candidate to appear in any subject
he thinks desirable under exceptional
circumstances.
(xii) Instruction/Guidelines relating to a specific
vocational course given in the course of
studies issued by CBSE or any other
subsequent institutions/ guidelines/ rules and
regulations circulated by the authorities
concerned are to be strictly followed.
(f) No student shall be eligible to take the
examination unless he has completed
75% of attendance counted from the
beginning of class XI/XII upto the 1st of
the month preceding the month of annual
examination.
(xiii)The students are required to come to the
school in proper uniform as prescribed by the
Education Department, Chandigarh
Administration.
(xiv)Parents can meet the teachers on the last
Saturday of every month. However school can
decide any other day convenient to it.
MOST IMPORTANT
Students have to attend the classes regularly to the
extent of minimum 75% and no relaxation in time
and attendance shall be permitted.
(xv) Rules for Change of Subject(s):
(a) No candidates shall be permitted to
change his/her subject of study after
passing Class XI.
(b) The candidate shall not offer a subject in
Class XII which he has not studied and
passed in Class XI.
(c) Head of the Institution may allow change
in subject in Class XI but not later than
31st October of that academic session.
(d) The change of subject(s) stream has been
allowed by CBSE to the failures of Class
Cheerful N.S.S. Volunteers on the job

Scheme of Examination
Nature of Examination
1.
In order to orient the student towards
competitive exams, MCQ tests are held
regularly at the school level. Class XI
examination shall be conducted internally by
the schools themselves while Class XII
examination based on the syllabus for class
XII only shall be conducted by the CBSE
according to the following schemes:
(a) The Board shall conduct examination in all
subjects except General Studies/Personality
Development and Soft Skills, Work
Experience, Physical and Health Education,
which will be assessed internally by the
schools.
(b) In the subject examined by the Board a student
will be given one paper each carrying 100
marks for 3 hours. However, in subject
requiring practical examination there will be a
theory paper and a practical examination as
required in the course of studies.
(c) In Work Experience, General Studies/
Personality Development and Soft Skills and
Physical and Health Education, schools are
required to maintain cumulative record of
continuous evaluation of students
achievement and progress. The record is
subject to scrutiny by the Board as and when it
deems necessary.
(d) A candidate from a recognized school, having
physical deformity or otherwise unable to take
part in Work Experience and Physical and
Health Education, may be granted exemption
by the Chairman of the Board on the
recommendation of the Head of the Institution
supported by medical certificate from the
Medical Officer of a rank not below an
Assistant Surgeon.
(e) A candidate may offer an additional subject
which can be either a language at elective level
or another elective subject as prescribed in the
scheme of studies, subject to the conditions
laid down in the Pass Criteria.
Terminal Examination
1.
The terminal examination will be held in the
months of September and December besides
Unit tests.
2.
Annual Examination will be held in the month
of March. In case of board exam, it shall
depend upon CBSE directions.
3.
A student taking vocational course will also
undergo on the job training. Instructions of the
department are to be adhered to in this regard.
4.
All types of State and Centre Scholarships are
tenable in all Senior Secondary Schools. There
is no tuition fee for male students belonging to
Scheduled Castes/ Tribes. However,
Scholarships/ Stipends of all the categories are
liable to be withdrawn if a student remains

regularly. Senior Secondary Schools have

N.S.S.
N.S.S. has been introduced in some of the

(A) Each school will have its own subject combination depending upon the availability of staff, facilities and subject to the condition that minimum
number of students opting for the subject is10. However, this condition is not applicable in case of languages. Please refer to pages 34 to 37 for
school-wise combination of subjects available.
(B) Medium of instruction for Science and Commerce stream will be English in all the schools. For the Humanities and Vocational subjects/Course,
the medium of instruction is as indicated against each school.
(C) 15% extra seats will be filled up in each section under Science, Commerce, Vocational & 20% under Humanities Stream to adjust the students
against the seats which are likely to fall vacant due to some reason or the other.
(D) Books published/as recommended by CBSE or NCERT for class XI and XII are prescribed in all Govt. Schools of Chandigarh. For subject wise
detail of Class XI, please refer to CBSE curriculum-2016 which is available on website of CBSE and is also available in the library.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE AT A GLANCE
v Take Prospectus from GMSSS-10, GMSSS-28, GGMSSS-20-B, GMSSS
37-B, GMSSS-46 & GMSSS- Modern Housing Complex, Manimajra,
Chandigarh.
v Fill the Registration Form, af fix a photograph, at tach self at tested
documents, fill the choice of stream & schools carefully and deposit the
form in one of the schools mentioned above on or before 20-6-2014.
v Check your status in the common merit list on the website of
Education Depar tment on 27th June, 2014 at 4.00 PM and in case of any
discrepancy/ objection that must be intimated in writing to Mr. Shiv Kumar
Sharma, Dy. DEO at GMSSS Sec-19, and GMSSS Sec.-16, Chandigarh
latest by 28/6/2014 upto 2.00 pm.
v Check the allotment of school and stream on 1st July at 11.00AM on the
website:chdeducation.gov.in. For this purpose each candidate has to enter
his/her Registration Form No. or Roll No. of Class X or Date of Bir th.
v Deposit the fee in the school where the seat has been allot ted. You have to
repor t in the school along with filled in admission form,
original
documents, latest photograph & a spare set of photo copy of the
documents.
v In case you want to change school/stream OR you have not been allot ted
any seat during 1st round of counselling then submit "Form for change of
school/stream" during 2nd or 3rd round
