On behalf of the Annual Conference Program Committee and the hosting Central Region, we invite you to attend the 2014
Annual Conference, November 13-15, 2014, at the Hilton Savannah DeSoto Hotel in Savannah, Georgia. This Conference
promises 3 days of educational programs, networking, and events not to be missed.
AWMI is committed to developing leadership skills, and providing education, mentoring, and networking that contribute
to successful careers in the metal industries. Our Annual Conference provides members and guests with the opportunity to
connect with peers and share perspectives. This year’s Conference will showcase five Keynote presentations from Leslie
Joyce, PhD, Sr. VP & Chief People Officer, Novelis Inc.; Chris Kuehl, Economist, Armada Corporate
Intelligence; Katy Breitenbach, Director Member Relations – Chicago, Catalyst; Jodi Parnell, VP of Supply Chain
Management, O’Neal Steel, Inc.; and Connie Glaser, Author of “GenderTalk Works”. Additionally, you won’t want
to miss the two Platts Educational Metals Training Sessions – Carbon and Aluminum, included with your
conference registration, as well as the New Technologies Panel “The Rise of New Technology in
Manufacturing” increasing the value of your AWMI conference registration with more focused training to advance your
career.
We are offering a day filled with optional events Wednesday, November 12 to help immerse you in the Savannah culture –
a walking city tour, foodie tour, and Savannah movie tour. Pick on tour, or spend the day exploring the city with us! On
Thursday, November 13 we will also be offering a morning and afternoon tour of the Port of Savannah, and on Friday,
November 14, we will offer an evening Dine Around followed by a Haunted Pub Tour. These are optional events you do
not want to miss – so we encourage you to sign up early as space is limited for all events.
The Conference officially begins with the Opening Reception and Dinner on Thursday evening, featuring Keynote Dinner
Speaker Leslie Joyce, PhD, Sr. VP & Chief People Officer, Novelis Inc. During the dinner, AWMI will recognize our
2013 “Member of the Year” and also will present our Corporate Member appreciation gifts.
