2014 Family Violence Prevention Week Happenings

Alberton Elementary School
Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) cards will be given to students by teachers, when they are
observed participating in an act of kindness.
Daily announcements will be read through the week emphasizing ideas and quotes of
kindness.
Students will create a poster outlining an act of kindness or a good deed they have done.
Wear Purple Day will be observed by the students on February 14, and participants will be
entered into a draw for a $25 movie card.
Athena Consolidated School
Students will be encouraged to perform Random Acts of Kindness.
There will be Kindness Zones for students.
Resources and handouts will be provided on family violence prevention awareness and
kindness to the teaching staff and students.
Bloomfield Elementary School

Georgetown Elementary School
Grade 7 and 8 students and teachers will participate in the Walk of Silence on February 10.
The walk begins at the school and finishes at the King’s Playhouse.
Hernewood Junior High School
A pancake breakfast will be served to students.
Students will create a poster listing better choices or alternatives to violence.
Wear Purple Day will be observed by the students and participants will be entered into a
draw for a $25 movie card.
M. E. Callaghan Junior High School
A pancake breakfast will be served to students.
Students will create a poster listing better choices or alternatives to violence.

Montague Regional High School
Throughout the week announcements will be given simulating circumstances of domestic
abuse and providing information on where to go for help. Announcements are written and
read by Students Against Violence Everywhere (S.A.V.E.) members.
There will be a Solutions poster campaign throughout the school.
February 11 will be Wear Purple Day for students and staff.
On February 12 students will participate in the Walk in Silence hosted by the Montague
Town Hall.
On February 13 Students will be encouraged to write positive messages and secretly put them
on each locker in the school.
Mount Stewart Consolidated School
February 12 will be Wear Purple Day, and Students Against Violence Everywhere
(S.A.V.E.) members from Morell Regional High School will be giving a presentation.
Students will be having a bake sale on February 12 with all proceeds to be donated to
community services that support victims of family violence.
Morell Regional High School
February 10 will be Share the Love Day. Positive messages will be given to every student in
the school.
On February 11 there will be a purple themed pancake breakfast.
February 12 will be Wear Purple Day.
On February 13 the whole school will participate in the Walk in Silence, which begins and
ends at the school.
O’Leary Elementary School

On February 10 positive messages will be placed on students’ lockers.
Students will participate in the town’s Walk of Silence on February 11.

Students Against Violence Everywhere (S.A.V.E.) members will be showing a video at noon
on February 13 in the lunch room.
St. Louis Elementary School

Posters with statistics and information on services available will be displayed throughout the
school.
On February 12 a pancake breakfast will be served, purple ribbons and tattoos will be given
out, and there will be a guest speaker for the students.
