Kim'sKORNER LPGATeachingProfessional PUTTING TRACK WITH CLUBS Purpose: One of the things that I see my students doing that causes poor results is swinging the putter on a big arc. In technical terms we refer to that as a faulty swing path, if the arc is too big. This can cause the putts to roll to the right or to the left. This drill allows you to check your swing path and understand just what your putter is doing as it goes back and through. Swing concern: Improperly aimed clubface, and poor body alignment, leading to missed putts. Procedure: Find a level, straight area on the putting green. Place two clubs a few inches apart and parallel to one another, on your putting line. The clubs should be just far enough apart to fit your putter-head in between them. Set up in your putting stance and make sure your putter-face is aimed at your target. Roll a few putts. If the putter touches the club nearest to you on the backstroke, you’ve taken the putter back too far inside your target line. If on the backstroke your putter touches the club farthest from you, you have taken the putter too far to the outside of your target line. This drill gives you immediate feedback as to whether your swing path is correct. Practice the putting track drill and your putts will be on a solid path to success! SUMMER SPECTACULAR GOLF INSTRUCTION Our popular Golf Clinics are starting for the summer! Wednesday morning 9:00 – 10:00 AM Join LPGA Teaching Professional KIM GRANT $25 per person Every week we will focus on a new area of the game including: “The Art of Putting” “Chipping” – do you know the difference between chipping and pitching? “Specialty Shots Around the Green” – awkward side-hill lie? Need to hit it up over a bunker? Men’s Clinics focusing on POWER and DISTANCE Ladies Clinics focusing on maximizing our physical strength and flexibility to hit it farther…and much more! SUMMER GOLF INSTRUCTION AT HERITAGE BAY Summer is a great time to improve your golf game in a relaxed environment! The hustle and bustle of our busy winter season often pushes golf instruction to the back burner. With our fantastic golf course in great condition, now is the time to schedule an on course playing lesson with a small group or you may enjoy a private lesson. Golf is the only sport I’m aware of that is learned and practiced in one arena (the range), but played in another arena (the actual golf course). Playing lessons facilitate the transferring of skills, and will allow you to improve more rapidly. We have numerous Instructional offerings for the “Year Rounders” at Heritage Bay, and we look forward to helping you achieve your golfing goals! We offer Clinics, Group Lessons (individualized instruction in a small group setting), Private Lessons, Playing Lessons, and Lesson Series for added value. If you are working out to improve fitness, just a reminder that Fitness Director, Pam Ayers, and LPGA Teaching Professional, Kim Grant, are certified with the Titleist Performance Institute. TPI is a golf specific fitness program that will identify how the imbalances in your body are affecting your golf swing. Remember – your body is your best piece of golf equipment! Please call the Golf Shop at (239) 353-2561, and be sure to peruse our Golf Instruction Information Board outside of the Golf Shop. On a Pontoon ..
