President’s Report
Dear Members,
I wish to clarify any misunderstanding
regarding membership fees, as some
members at last Tuesdays meeting felt
they had not been properly advised.
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
Dues are due on 1st January and 1st July annually.
Dues are $130 per 6 months, we know many of you have
already paid (thank you) some of you are paying this off at
the rate of $25 a time (we also appreciate this).
Some of you are yet to pay.
Your Club has already paid dues for 40 members to District
at a cost of $1240. The ones for Rotary International have
to be paid early next month at a cost of $1788.58.
The Administration Account needs to recoup all of this as
soon as possible. Money cannot by law be taken from the
Service account to prop up the Administration account, so
it is vital to keep this account in the black. The recent rise
in dinner fees, which has stayed the same for many years,
was also done to help ensure this.
While both accounts look healthy on the surface we have
some large sums to pay out of both accounts in the next
weeks.
Your help and attention to this will be appreciated, thank
you.
Yours in Rotary, President and Treasurer Peter

Last Meeting…..
Xylia Ingham and Fiona Taylor from the Central Coast Community Women's Health Centre (CCCWHC) spoke to us.
They explained a little about CCCWHC including the Commitment of CCCWHC which is: “To work alongside and support women of all
ages, backgrounds and cultures in a respectful, friendly and effective way.
We also value women's own knowledge and skills in addressing their challenges and concerns”.
Xylia is the Manager of CCCWHC and has been in that position since June
2014. Previous to this Xylia was the Coordinator of the Northern Women's
Health Centre, the northern branch of the CCCWHC since February 2010.
From 2001 to 2009 Xylia worked internationally in the United Nations system.
Xylia is passionate about women's health, domestic violence, feminism, gender discrimination and leadership on these is-sues.
Above: Xylia Ingham and Fiona Taylor.
Fiona is a counsellor and group worker at the CCCWHC. Fiona has been in
this position since August 2011. Fiona is passionate about empowering women through therapy to take control of their lives and make positive change.
“On Sunday January 25th, our Club member Fiona attended Celebrations for the
life of Scotland’s National Poet, Robbie (Rabbie) Burns. Events included highland
dancing accompanied by bagpipes and a selection of his poems were recited. Kilts
denoting the family’s clans (with their sporrans) were proudly worn. The event culminated with the serving of Scotland’s national delicacy – The Haggis!
The festivities were enjoyed by all and it is hoped that this will become a regular
annual event.
Poetry can be liked, or intensely disliked. For some of us, it can regurgitate doleful
memories from our schoolrooms attempting to master the works of certain poets.
But if written well, good poetry should be like reading a story containing the Poet’s reflections and appreciation of life. During his short life (1759 – 1796) Robbie Burns wrote many poems
which displayed his ‘Joie de Vivre’. His poem ‘My Bonie Bell’ displayed his love and observations of nature, including the changes which occur in the four seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn.
For those of you who might like to be reminded of this poem, here is ‘My Bonie Bell’.
My Bonie Bell.
The smiling Spring comes in rejoicing,
And surly Winter grimly flies;
Now crystal clear are the falling waters,
And bonie blue are the sunny skies.
Fresh oér the mountain breaks forth the morning,
The ev’ning gilds the ocean’s swell;
All creatures joy in the sun’s returning,
And I rejoice in my bonie Bell.
The flowery Spring leads sunny Summer,
The yellow Autumn presses near;
Then in his turn comes gloomy Winter,
Till smiling Spring again appear:
Thus seasons dancing, life advancing,
Old Time and Nature their changes tell;
But never ranging, still unchanging,
I adore my bonie Bell.
And so, to you All. . . . . Dig out those old school books!
