LAST TIME AGAINST HOFSTRA
Delaware used double-digit performances from three players in addition to 18 total free throws to defeat Hofstra,
64-53, Jan. 15 at the Bob. With the win, the Blue Hens (7-9, 2-3 CAA) put a blemish on the Pride’s perfect CAA
mark as Hofstra fell to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in league play. UD was led in scoring by Courtni Green and Erika
Brown, who each had 18 points on the night. Brown had the hot hand to start the game as she scored 14 of her
points in the first stanza while Green took over in the second by posting 16. Hannah Jardine added her third
double double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Blue Hens had not held a double-digit advantage over Hofstra until the 3:27 mark in the second half when Green drained her 100th career three-pointer to put
Delaware ahead, 56-46. With the trey, Green became just the sixth player in program history to hit the century
mark in baskets behind the arc.
DELAWARE ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY
The Blue Hens are 12-5 all-time when playing on Super Bowl Sunday and have won seven consecutive games on
the same day as the ‘big game.’ Delaware and Hofstra previously matched up on the same day as Super Bowl XLVII
with the Blue Hens picking up a 79-63 victory over the Pride in Newark on Feb. 3, 2013.
OFFENSE COMES ALIVE AGAINST CHARLESTON
After an offensive collapse against William & Mary in the previous game, the Blue Hens bounced back stronger
than ever with an 80-49 victory over the College of Charleston. The 80 points was the most since an 85-71 win
over the Cougars on Feb. 14, 2014. For the game, UD shot 54.7 percent (29-53), the highest since Delaware
posted a 58.0 shooting percentage at Towson on Feb. 2, 2014. Additionally, the game’s margin of victory was the
largest since UD defeated Georgia State, 70-38, on Jan. 31, 2013.
HENS SHARE THE OFFENSIVE WEALTH
During Jan. 22’s win against Charleston, the Blue Hens had five players score at least 10 points each. The last
time this happened was March 10, 2005 in a 71-56 victory over VCU in the CAA quarterfinals at George Mason
(Fairfax, Va.). Tyresa Smith (14), Tiffany Young (13), Alena Koshansky (11), Julie Sailer (11) and
current UD assistant coach Tiara Malcom (10) guided the Hens that day.
BLUE HENS COLLAPSE AGAINST WILLIAM & MARY
In Jan. 18’s 50-48 loss to the Tribe, Delaware recorded just 11 points on four field goals. The last time the Hens
made just four field goals in a half came on Jan. 27, 2011 when UD went 4-for-18 in the second half in a 51-48
loss to George Mason. The last time the Hens were held to less than 11 points in a half came on Nov. 18, 2009
when Delaware scored 10 points in the first half of a 67-44 loss at Colorado State.
DELAWARE LOSES HALFTIME LEAD
In the loss to William & Mary, the Blue Hens held a 15-point lead (37-22) at halftime before losing by two. The last
time Delaware surrendered such a large halftime lead en route to a loss came on January 22, 2000 when the Blue
Hens led, 34-19, at halftime, but ended up losing, 59-53, at Towson.

As has been the case in the past few seasons, Delware was predicted to finish atop the pack of the CAA as
the Blue Hens were chosen second in the league’s preseason poll. Last season, the Hens returned to the CAA
Championship for the fourth straight year and finished the year second in the league with a record of 10-6.
Junior Courtni Green and senior Joy Caracciolo were picked as Preseason All-CAA Second Team and
Honorable Mention selections, respectively.
BLUE HENS DROP THREE STRAIGHT
Delaware had lost three consecutive games for the first time since 2010 when the Blue Hens dropped contests to
Penn State (Dec. 19 - 64-55), Saint Joseph’s (Dec. 22 - 50-45) and Vanderbilt (Dec. 29 - 72-51). UD has not
lost four straight since the 2008-09 campaign.
JARDINE SHINES OFFENSIVELY AGAINST NORTHERN KENTUCKY
Sophomore Hannah Jardine had a career night December 19 against Northern Kentucky by posting 18
points, including going 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Her previous career-high of 15 points was set in Delaware’s win over Bucknell on December 7.
DELAWARE FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE
UD is 0-2 in games this season when they register at least 20 free throws. The Hens posted a season-high 22 at
Lafayette (L, 63-52) in the season opener and then collected 20 in a 63-58 loss to Northern Kentucky.
BLUE HENS REACH PROGRAM MILESTONE
Delaware’s win at Temple was the program’s 700th since inception in 1971-72. In 43 seasons of play, the Blue
Hens have averaged over 16 victories per season.
LEON RECOGNIZED AS ALLSTATE WBCA GOOD WORKS TEAM® NOMINEE
Stephanie Leon earned more recognition for her hard work off of the court as the senior was recognized as
one of 93 nominees to the 2015 Allstate WBCA Good Works Team®. The prestigious community service award
acknowledges a distinguished group of student-athletes who have demonstrated a commitment to enriching the
lives of others and contributing to the greater good in their communities. Distinguished voting panels will select
two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes
from NCAA Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February.
GREEN’S CAREER DAY
A career-high of 30 points for Courtni Green propelled the Blue Hens to a 68-46 victory over Vermont at
Patrick Gym on Nov. 29. Green, who previously tallied a career-best 19 points at Rutgers during the WNIT last
March, went 11-for-25 from the floor, with three baskets from behind the arc and five free throws. The junior
added eight rebounds, two assists and two steals as the Blue Hens snapped a two-game losing streak.
BLUE HENS DROPPED FROM MID-MAJOR POLL
For the first time since March 8, 2011, the Blue Hens did not appear in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll on
December 2. Delaware received votes in the previous week’s poll, after ranking in the Top 25 for the previous
three-plus seasons.
HENS LOOKING FOR STICKY FINGERS
Delaware recorded 27 turnovers in its loss at ECU, which has not happened since the 2009 season when the Blue
Hens tallied 27 turnovers against Hofstra on Jan. 8 and then posted 29 at HU on Feb. 5.
DELAWARE LOSES BELL TO SEASON-ENDING INJURY
UD’s win over Marist came with a price as the Blue Hens lost team captain Alecia Bell to a season-ending
injury. Bell left the game on a stretcher near the end of the first half after going down with a gruesome left leg
injury. X-rays concluded that Bell broke both her tibia and fibula bones and the junior underwent surgery on
Nov. 17 to have rods and screws placed into her leg.
CHASTITY TAYLOR GARNERS CAA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
After shining in her Blue Hens’ debut on Nov. 16, freshman Chastity Taylor was named the CAA Rookie of

the Week. Taylor picked up 12 points, three rebounds and two assists without a turnover in Delaware’s 70-60 victory over #rv Marist. The forward went 5-for-8 from the floor (.625) in addition to draining two 3-pointers in 18
minutes of action against the Red Foxes.
HENS FROM BEHIND THE ARC
After opening the season scoreless from behind the arc, the Hens tallied nine three-pointers against Marist. The
last time UD recorded at least six treys came on Nov. 19, 2013 when the Hens went 10-for-22 against Marist.
DELAWARE FLOUNDERS IN SEASON LID-LIFTER
Friday’s loss at Lafayette snapped a 10-game winning streak in season openers for the Hens. UD is now 23-21
all-time in the lid-lifter contest. The last time the Hens lost a season opener came on November 21, 2003 when
Delaware lost, 80-78, to Richmond in overtime. UD finished that season with a 19-10 record.
TEAM CAPTAINS NAMED
Following the 2013-14 team banquet in May, Tina Martin announced that senior Stephanie Leon and junior
Alecia Bell were selected as this season’s team captains.
2013-14 RECAP
Despite its youth, Delaware exceeded expectations and earned its fifth straight berth into postseason play by finishing second in the CAA. Additionally, the Blue Hens collected their fifth straight and 12th overall 20-win season in
the past 15 years while wrapping the 2013-14 campaign with a mark of 20-11.
HENS LOSE JUST TWO TO GRADUATION
UD returns 10 letterwinners and four starters from last season’s squad; however, the Blue Hens have lost two impact
players to graduation in Kelsey Buchanan and Akeema Richards. Buchanan posted breakout year as a
senior and was named a CAA All-First Team and All-Tournament team selection who finished third in the conference with an average of 17.1 points, fourth with 8.5 rebounds and sixth with 1.0 blocks per contest. Richards, the
longest tenured Hen last season, averaged 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest.
A RUN OF EXCELLENCE
During the last 15 seasons, Delaware has produced a run of success most teams in the nation would be hardpressed to match. Since the start of the 1999-2000 season, the Blue Hens have posted 12 20-win seasons (UD won
19 games in 2003-04) and have competed in postseason play 11 times. Delaware has competed in the NCAA
Tournament four times (2001, 2007, 2012, 2013), winning the most NCAA games (three) in men’s or women’s history. UD has also earned post-season WNIT berths in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2014. Overall,
the Hens have gone 330-141 during the past 15 years, a winning percentage of .701.
DELAWARE WELCOMES TRANSFER SADÉ CHATMAN TO SQUAD
Tina Martin announced in August the addition of Sadé [pronounced SHA—day] Chatman to the team’s roster.
Chatman joins the Blue Hens from Clemson University, where she played in 18 games for the Tigers as a freshman
last season. Due to NCAA regulations, Chatman will be required to sit out the 2014-15 season.
USA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SHOWCASE FEATURED AT BOB
Prior to claiming the FIBA World Championship gold medal with a win over Spain, the USA Women’s National
Team played an exhibition showcase at the Bob Carpenter Center on Sept. 11. The game was one of the last
chances for the athletes to impress head coach Geno Auriemma and the selection committee as they look to
finalize the 12-player roster ahead of the 2014 FIBA World Championship.
RADICE A COACHING FIXTURE AT DELAWARE
Associate head coach Jeanine Radice is in her 19th season with the Blue Hens, a mark that ties her for 10th
nationally in longest tenured assistant coaches.
UD COACHES SECOND IN NATION WITH CAREER POINTS
The UD coaches rank second in the nation with combined collegiate career points with 6,119 spanning three
coaches. Notre Dame leads the pack with four coaches combined for 6,415 points.

HEAD COACH TINA MARTIN
19th Season at Delaware
370-203 (.646)
Lock Haven ‘86
has coached the most games and became the winningest coach in Delaware men’s and women’s
basketball history in January 2011.
Under Martin’s guidance, Delaware has recorded 20-win seasons in 12 of the last 15 seasons and
made postseason appearances in 11 of the last 14 years, including four in the NCAA and seven in
the WNIT. The Hens have placed fourth or better in league play all but four times during Martin’s
tenure and have advanced to the league championship semifinals or better 13 times in the last 15
years, including six appearances in the CAA Championship Game.
Despite losing one of the most memorable and talented classes in school history, the Blue Hens
bounced back from graduating seven seniors and a career total of over 6,500 points, 3,200
rebounds and 1,100 assists in remarkable fashion this past season. Delaware was predicted to
have a “down” season after graduating 2013 WNBA Rookie of the Year, Elena Delle Donne, in
addition to Danielle Parker, Lauren Carra, Kayla Miller, Trumae Lucas, Jaquetta May and Chelsea
Craig, but proved everybody wrong during the 2013-14 slate.
One of the most successful coaches in University of Delaware history, Tina Martin is in her 19th
season at the helm of the Blue Hen women’s basketball team during the 2014-15 campaign.
Delaware fielded nine freshmen and sophomores in 2013-14 with just three juniors and seniors,
a far cry from the squad that reached the NCAA Sweet 16 just a season ago. The returning Blue
Hens combined for a total of 1,505 minutes (20.8 percent), 383 points (15.8 percent) and 269
rebounds (7.5 percent) in 2012-13. Fellow CAA schools predicted Delaware would finish fifth in
the league while just one player (Akeema Richards) was chosen to the Preseason All-CAA Second
Team.
A native of Williamsport, Pa., Martin was hired May 14, 1996 to replace Joyce Perry, who led
the Hens for 18 years. Martin signed a five-year contract extension in 2012 that will keep her at
Delaware through the 2016-17 season.
This all served as motivation for UD as the Blue Hens returned to the CAA Championship game
for the fourth straight season and earned a berth into the WNIT following a year where Delaware
went 20-11 overall and 10-6 in the conference. The Blue Hens traveled north for a WNIT First
Round contest wherein the eventual tournament champion, Rutgers, edged UD, 65-61.
During her tenure, Martin has transformed the Blue Hens into perennial championship contenders, first in the America East Conference and currently in the Colonial Athletic Association, which
Delaware joined during the 2001-02 campaign.
The Hens also continued a school-record 44-game CAA winning streak before falling to James
Madison on Jan. 12. The streak dated to the 2010-11 season and was the most in the league since
Old Dominion won 95 consecutive contests from 1995 to 2001.
In 18 seasons, Martin has led UD women’s basketball to an overall record of 361-192 (.653)
while posting a mark of 214-108 (.665) in regular season league play. Martin leads the CAA
with 186 conference (regular season and tournament) victories, the most for active CAA coaches
and second all-time.
In that momentous 2012-13 season, Martin led one of the most illustrious squads in Delaware
history as the Hens saw another record-breaking year. UD finished the season with an incredible
32-4 mark, went undefeated in CAA play for the second consecutive year and advanced to the
NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. The Hens finished atop the CBI Mid-Major Poll
for the second straight season while receiving a No. 15 spot in the Associated Press Poll and a No.
16 spot in the USA Today/Coaches Poll.
On Jan. 13, 2013, Martin coached her 500th career game, a 63-46 win at Old Dominion. She

Delaware also recorded a school-record 27 straight victories, besting the team’s streak of 21
consecutive wins during the 2011-12 slate, and good for third nationally behind Baylor and Notre
Dame. Dating to the 2010-11 season, Martin has led UD to 37 straight CAA regular season wins,
a mark that is good for second nationally behind Baylor and the most in the league since Old
Dominion won 95 consecutive contests from 1995 to 2001.
Martin guided the Blue Hens to a No. 6 seed in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, where Delaware defeated No. 11 West Virginia, 66-53, before upsetting No. 3 North Carolina, 78-69, at a sold-out
Bob Carpenter Center to advance to the Sweet 16. UD was unable to make a comeback against
No. 2 Kentucky as the Hens ended their run with a 69-62 loss to the Wildcats in Bridgeport, Conn.
Martin was instrumental in the development of the team’s seven sensational seniors that included
three 1,000-point career scorers in Lauren Carra, Elena Delle Donne and Danielle Parker, two
1,000 career rebounders (Delle Donne and Parker) and a second-overall WNBA draft pick (Delle
Donne).
Delle Donne, one of Delaware’s most decorated student-athletes, wrapped up her time with the Blue
Hens as a four-time All-American, three-time CAA Player of the Year and atop 11 career record
lists and holds countless single season and single game records while Parker finished her career
with the most rebounds and games played in Delaware women’s basketball history.
During the 2012-13 campaign, Martin’s Blue Hens saw nearly 70,000 fans pass through the turnstiles of the Bob Carpenter Center, an average of over 4,000 per game at the 5,000-seat venue.
Delaware sold out “The Bob” five times throughout the year, including hosting a record crowd of
5,098 for a 61-60 win over James Madison on Feb. 24, 2013. In total, nearly 104,000 spectators
saw Martin’s squad compete in person during the 2012-13 season. The Hens were also featured
nationally various times on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and the Comcast Sports Network.
The 2011-12 Blue Hens collected a record-breaking year with a 31-2 record while going undefeated in CAA play and winning the first postseason game in school history.
Delaware set a previous school record for wins in a season including a record 21 straight victories
and claimed the first CAA Tournament title in UD history. The Hens earned a No. 3 seed in the
NCAA Tournament and posted a 73-42 win over Arkansas Little Rock, the first postseason win by
a men’s or women’s basketball team in school history. Delaware ended the year ranked No. 14 in
the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll after climbing as high as No. 7 in early March.
Along the way, Martin earned her 300th career victory on Feb. 12 when the Blue Hens defeated
Georgia State, 94-56, while recording the most points scored by UD in Martin’s tenure. For her
efforts, Martin was named the CAA Coach of the Year for the third time in her career.
Martin was a two-time NCAA Division II All-American at Lock Haven (Pa.) University and was a
four-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference All-Star and two-time league Player of the Year.
She finished as PSAC’s all-time leading scorer with 2,157 points and had her number (33) retired
at Lock Haven.
Martin began her coaching career at Lock Haven in 1986-87, where she served as an assistant
before moving on to Seton Hall as a graduate assistant.
Martin’s siblings have also enjoyed successful careers in athletics as her brother, Dave, is currently
the director of athletics at Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa., while her twin sister, Theresa,
previously served as the athletics director, basketball coach and softball coach at Gunning Bedford
Middle School in New Castle, Del.
