MTR Celebrates the Auspicious Year of the Goat
with a Commemorative Ticket Set
Two joyful goats are celebrating the start of an auspicious Year of the Goat with MTR
passengers as they accompany them to visit relatives and friends on the first day of the Lunar
New Year.
The two goats are making graceful appearances on the MTR Year of the Goat Commemorative
Ticket Set which will be available for sale beginning this Sunday (1 February 2015). The
Commemorative Ticket Set includes two souvenir tickets, one featuring traditional Chinese art
derived from the famous painting “Sheep and Goat” by Yuan Dynasty artist Mr Zhao Mengfu,
and the other featuring a contemporary illustration by modern US artist and designer
Mr Joshua Brill. The Commemorative Ticket Set includes a specially designed ticket holder and
20 exquisite “lai see” with greetings for a joyous and successful Year of the Goat.
“The goat is often seen as a graceful, joyful and energetic creature. As we welcome the Year of
the Goat, the MTR wishes Hong Kong people a happy and prosperous Year of the Goat,” said
Ms Jeny Yeung, Commercial Director of MTR Corporation.
“The MTR Lunar New Year Commemorative Ticket Set has, through the years, become a part of
the tradition of Chinese people visiting relatives and friends to deliver warm personal
greetings by offering passengers a whole day of unlimited rides on the MTR. The souvenir
tickets featuring images of the goat can also be an ideal gift for passengers to wish their
relatives and friends a year of joy and success,” she added.
Priced at HK$68 each, the Commemorative Ticket Sets will be available at all MTR and Light
Rail Customer Service Centres (except Airport Express, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse
stations) while stocks last. Each person is limited to two sets per purchase.
Each commemorative ticket allows passengers to take unlimited rides on the MTR, Light Rail,
MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus (except Airport Express, East Rail Line First Class, journeys to or
from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations) on 19 February 2015, the first day of the Lunar New
Year. The tickets will be returned to passengers as souvenirs after use.
