FAMILY STORYTIME: Tuesdays, 3/10 - 3/31, 10:30 a.m. This program is for children up to age 6 with an adult. It is a 45 minute program perfect for families with several children of different ages. Activities include stories, songs, fingerplays, flannel boards, creative movement, and simple crafts. ACTIVE LISTENERS: Thursdays, 3/12 - 3/26, 10:30 a.m. This program is for children under age 3 with an adult. It is a 30 minute interactive program for the very young including simple songs, fingerplays, elementary flannel boards, very short books, and easy movement activities. ROOKIE READERS: Thursday, 3/12 and 3/26, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. A book club designed for newly independent readers. Children should be in Grades 1 &2 and able to read on their own. Each program includes a book discussion, snack, read-aloud, and an activity related to the theme of the day. On the 12th, children should bring a Dr. Seuss book and on the 26th, it is Readers’ Choice. EAGER READERS: Monday, 3/9, 3/16, & 3/30, 2:30 - 3:30 pm at BES (no program 3/23) This after-school book club for students in Grades 3 & 4 is pre-registered through Mrs. Brewster and takes place in the library at Bow Elementary School. RALLY ‘ROUND THE FLAG: Monday, 3/9, 10 a.m. at the Bow High School Auditorium A year-by-year musical look at the politics, personalities, and perspectives that remade a nation in the Civil War era. Audience members participate and sing along in an engaging, exploratory forum as we bring new life to lyrics, documents, and visual images from primary sources. Through camp songs, parlor music, hymns, battlefield rallying cries, and fiddle tunes, we examine the folksong as a means to enact living history, share perspectives, influence public perceptions of events, and simultaneously fuse and conserve cultures in times of change. This dynamic and engaging session features instruments such as banjo, fiddle, dulcimer, accordion, whistle, and guitar, and challenges participants to find new connections between song, art, and politics in American history. Bow Heritage Commission will display area artifacts. BOOK TALKS: Tuesday, 3/10 at 12:30 p.m. OR 6:30 p.m. This month we’ll discuss The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey.
