WHAT’S HAPPENING AT SUNSET?
There are many exciting things going on at Sunset Veterinary Clinic! Since you are part of our family,
we want you to be in the know.
SPRING 2014
Our New Home
We have exciting news here at Sunset Veterinary Clinic. We
have begun construction of our new clinic located at 2017 N.
Kelly Avenue here in Edmond, Oklahoma. The building is projected to be complete in the fall of 2014. Our new location will
be a freestanding building larger than our current site with a
fenced exercise yard allowing us to add more services for you
and your pets! We will be offering all of our current services
and as well as additional large dog boarding.
Keep an eye out for our new sign on the west side of Kelly Avenue just south of the intersection of
Covell and Kelly adjacent to Edmond Pediatrics. As time goes by, we’ll add pictures to the New Clinic
page on our website, www.sunsetvetclinic.com.
Welcome New Team Members!
We would like to introduce the newest members of our team, Katherine Buchanan & Chaney Monan.
Katherine is our newest Veterinarian Assistant and Chaney is a Receptionist. They both have experience working with small animals and we are excited to welcome them to our pack.
We are fortunate to have a team who will always provide compassionate care for you and your furry friends.
Digital Xray = Better Medicine
Sunset has recently purchased a brand new Scil SXR-HF Veterinary x-ray table. New technology, such as this digital x-ray machine, allows the Sunset team to be more effective in getting a
diagnosis for your pets. Sunset wants to take advantage of new
technology available in order to provide the best medical service
to you and your fuzzy family members. Digital radiography eliminates film processing, which in turn reduces the amount of x-ray retakes, consolidates time, and yields
a more efficient and enhanced diagnosis. As you can see in the pic, we are working together to master
this new digital machine and have great expectations for it to help our patients fully recover.
Stinky Pet Services
Spring is the time of year that pets love to get out and get dirty! If you don’t
have the time or energy to spend bathing your furry friend, Sunset Vet Clinic
can do it for you. We will bathe, dry, and brush your dog or cat properly if
there are no severe fur matts. In addition to a bath, your pet will receive a
nail trim and a stylish bandana! It’s everything a groomer would do with the
exception of trimming hair—and it’s much more affordable! Give us a call at
405-844-2888 to schedule your pet for a bath today.

Spring Brings Threats of Pets Overheating
Does your dog love to go on a ride in the car with you? This is fun and common
for many but can pose major health risks to your pet. Warm weather can be
deadly for a dog that is left inside a vehicle. An outdoor temperature as low as
70̊ is still too hot for your pooch. Even with windows cracked, a car’s internal
temperature can climb to 116̊ in less than an hour. Nor is it safe to depend on air
conditioning. Dogs overheat more easily than people because they cannot sweat
through their skin to cool themselves.
Clinical signs of overheating:
Heavy panting
Excessive drooling
Glazed eyes
Bright or dark red tongue and gums
Vomiting
Diarrhea
A good guideline is to not leave your pets in the car
when the temperature outside reaches 70 degrees or
above for any period of time.
Officer Stevenson with Edmond Animal Welfare has
already charged some Edmond patrons with animal cruelty due to their dog showing signs of overheating when
found to be left inside an unattended vehicle.
The charge of animal cruelty is a felony in Oklahoma
(O.S. 21:1685).
“Warm weather can
literally be a killer for a
dog left inside a car.”
-Officer Stevenson with
Edmond Animal Welfare
Please help Sunset Veterinary Clinic and Edmond Animal Welfare spread the

Spring has sprung in Oklahoma and we are all ready for sunny weather. However, warmer temperatures and spring rains bring parasites

they harbor real health risks for your furry friends, some even fatal. A

protect your dog or cat.
