Or better yet, picture Jubelale aging for a year in Pinot Noir and new Oregon Oak Barrels giving the beer hints of spice, dried fruit, oak, caramel, and vanilla. Then add a higher alcohol kick that will warm your belly for the rest of winter. This is what we are calling Jubel 2015! We originally planned this “super” version of Jubelale as a once-a-decade-ale to be released in 2000, 2010 and 2020, but we just couldn’t wait another five years so we’re releasing it now! Enjoy this beer with friends and family fireside in France (gettin’ crazy with alliteration and the letter “F”), or save a few bottles for comparison with the 2020 version. Either way, this beer will be your new forever favorite (there’s that alliteration again). What do you get when you take the local’s favorite beer, Bachelor Bitter, and age it in Pinot, Bourbon and Sherry Barrels? You get something Extra, Extra Special: The Specialist. This “beefed-up” ESB has earthy, fruity, bourbon, caramel, and vanilla flavors and aromas from Pale, Crystal and wheat malts balanced against Nugget, Willamette and EKG hops. Don’t let the name “bitter” confuse you, as this style of beer couldn’t be further from a Hoppy, Bitter IPA, but more likely served at a traditional English pub. Since this beer is so special, you can only find it in 22 ounce bottles at our pubs and brewery. Grab a bottle if you are local or phone a friend in Oregon. PATRICK’S DAY DASH Jubel 2015 is one of my favorite strong ales, and pairs amazingly with hearty foods that warm the body and soul. This barrel-aged beauty has a big malt profile and some alcohol heat with flavors of raisin, stone fruits, and oak, and therefore, is a great beer to enjoy with rich, heavier foods. CHEESE & SWEETS PAIRINGS I also encourage you to try goat and sheep’s milk cheeses with the Jubel 2015 and on the sweeter side, I think it would pair beautifully with chocolate desserts, oatmeal raisin cookies, or date cake with a nutmeg scented whipped cream.
