Thank you for your cooperation and support. ******** Centennial announcement In 1914, there was a general agreement that a statewide organization should be formed to oversee interscholastic athletics. Thus the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) was formed. The Northern Section was one of the four original Sections formed to give schools and students who were competing against students from other schools an authorizing body. It was decided the Section would conduct playoffs between league champions to determine a Section Champion.
