Still Using Metal Endo Posts?
Unlike metal, glass fiber posts exhibit physical properties that
are very similar to dentin. A lower modulus of elasticity (close
to that of dentin) reduces stress transmission to the root,
avoiding the possible irreversible longitudinal fracture associated with unnecessarily stiff cast or pre-fabricated metal
posts. Early clinical studies by Mannoci and Ferrari showed
a 9% root fracture rate with cast posts at 4 years vs. a 0%
fracture rate with fiber posts at 4 years.
Glass fiber posts will also chemically bond with the luting
cements and core buildup materials used during the procedures, leading to superior integration of the post into the
restoration and reducing the need for retentive features
found in most metal posts.

designed to more accurately conform to tooth anatomy.
DUAL and ST posts result in a far greater preservation of the
tooth apically, resulting in a stronger tooth. Because they
have a larger coronal diameter they are more resistant to
fractures caused by compressive and transverse forces and
reduce the amount of weak luting cement used, resulting
overall in a more durable solution.

fracture resistance, as well as superior radiopacity and bonds
to cements.
