East Coast Schools Program. With a TAFE
Queensland East Coast Schools Program you
typically attend school four days per week and
TAFE one day per week.
What a r e the b e n e f i t s ?
W h a t a r e the entry r e q u i r e m e n t s ?
The VET in Schools (VETiS) program is available to year 11 and
year 12 students. You must be a minimum of 15 years of age
(14 years and 9 months if in year 10) and have a good level of
achievement In non-modified core English and non-modified
core math subjects in year 10 to enter the program.
H o w m u c h d o e s it c o s t ?
•
Gain valuable credit points towards the Queensland
Certificate of Education (QCE) AND complete a
certificate I or certificate II while still at school
•
Receive direct entry into certain TAFE Queensland
programs upon successful completion of high school
•
Gain credits for further study in a
certificate or diploma program
•
Learn from qualified trainers with current
industry knowledge (they know their stuff) .
•
Gain real employment skills relevant to the workplace.

A range of VETIS qualifications are fee-free for students and
covered under VETiS funding. In cases where a small fee
applies, schools will pay a co-contribution fee towards the
student's training. Please ensure you research your decision in
choosing the most suitable qualification to study as students are
only entitled to receive one qualification funded by VETiS.
Some qualifications are not VETiS funded and have associated
fees to cover the cost of training. Visit our website for more

industry based training taught by industry-connected teachers.
The skills and experience you will develop will allow you to move
straight into the workforce or onto further study It is a great
opportunity to try an industry and become familiar with life on
campus.
To nominate for participation in a VET in Schools program,
please contact your school's VET Coordinator You need to
identify the program in your Senior Education and Training (SET)
Plan through your school.
What courses can I study?
You have the choice of a wide range of courses from tourism,
hospitality, horticulture, hairdressing, automotive, construction,
tourism and more.
