Message from the Managing Director
“Sowga featured
amongst the best of the
best”
There are those who advocate, and those who do. There is a
huge difference between using a soapbox and actually getting
your hands dirty. I've spent many years and hours and hours of
my time doing what I do, and aiming to lead my team by
example.
I have always maintained the same set of principles. These are
also our company principles and every member of the Sowga
team is guided by these.

Sowga
Management
Systems



The Customer is King – Focus on the customer and work
backwards from there.
Exceed expectations – Deliver what is expected plus a little
something extra.
Insist on the highest standards – Good isn’t good enough,
always strive for excellence.
Take ownership of your work – Act on behalf of the
company, never say ‘that’s not my responsibility’
We are able to measure the success of these principles through
the feedback and recognition that we consistently receive from
our customers and industry peers.

BUILDING SERVICES: SOWGA LIMITED
EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS
Michael Willoughby speaks to
Aaron Giudice of fully-integrated
building services company, Sowga
about achieving excellence and
asks… why the interesting name?
S
owga’s name comes from all the
different processes it was set
up to serve, namely steam, oil,
water, gas and compressed air.
The firm has been involved in multifarious
aspects of mechanical services since that
day in 1977. From the prefabrication
of pipework and packaged units to the
installation of complete boiler houses,
compressor houses and pumping stations.
But it has kept up with the times and,
with the addition of emerging practices,
is now a fully-integrated building services
engineering company specialising in
building services maintenance, building
management systems, controls, energy
management, M&E and HVAC systems,
access control and fire systems.
Its main markets lie within the
commercial property, luxury residential,
leisure, health care and education sectors.
In the commercial property sector, it works
on long-term contracts for clients such
as Standard Life, Jones Lang La Salle, MJ
Mapp, Hilson Moran, GBR Phoenix Beard
and SJ Higgins.
Those of particular note include One
Hyde Park and pub chain, JD Wetherspoon.
And Sowga recently completed the
£600,000 cooling tower replacement at 1
Westferry Circus, Canary Wharf.
Aaron Giudice, Business Development
Manager, puts the firm’s success down
to three watch words: maintenance,
development and growth.
And the greatest of these is
maintenance: “Our main aim will always
be to look after our current clientele
before we think about what other goals we
have,” he says. “Maintaining our existing
client relationships is the most important
element of our business and provides the
foundation for further
development and growth.”
The goal of the
company is to maintain
a high level of service
from the top to the bottom - from senior
management, through office teams, to
engineers in the field. The company ethos
is to “exceed expectations.”
“Our standards of excellence are
underpinned by the fact that we strive
for quality in all that we do, from the
services that we deliver to the people we
employ, right down to the way we address
discrepancies or concerns,” says Giudice.
The firm is fully committed to health
and safety, calling upon the expertise of
compliance firm, Citation to implement
their management system and policy. They

also rely on them to give the firm support
and updates of legislation.
As a result, Sowga has achieved Safe
Contractor accreditation, Contractor Plus
and has enrolled in the ROSPA accredited
Human Focus health and safety training
Programme.
It holds the following memberships and
accreditations; Safe Contractor, Contractor
Plus, B&ES, NICEIC, ECA, GasSafe, MCS,

Giudice says the firm values its
relationship with The Building and

“the most important trade association in
our industry.”
Of particular note, he adds, are

firm different, Giudice says:
“Our aim is to always exceed
expectations and we have a
track record that proves it.
“We are committed to looking after
our clients properly and building better

customers want. Plus a little something
