The children all enjoyed their Arts Week moving around the school
experiencing a range of activities with different staff.
Y3 went to the Ricoh Arena to listen to the author of Horrid Henry,
Francesca Simon. The children enjoyed listening to her, asking
interesting questions. Thalia Porretta won a prize as runner up in the
Birthday Card Competition and this will be included on their website.
Year 6 have had a busy week. On Monday they enjoyed a theatre
production from the Belgrade of 'Big School,' an introduction to
secondary school. As part of their transition work, the children were
able to discuss and be re assured about any anxieties they had about
moving up to secondary school in a fun and interactive way.
On Thursday, they visited St Chad's Cathedral in Birmingham. The
children enjoyed a guided tour of the Cathedral and learnt all about
the Cathedral's history. They also took part in mass, with some of our
children altar serving.
The day linked wonderfully to their
Confirmation preparation.
Today, they enjoyed a Confirmation Retreat Day from the Chaplaincy
team at Cardinal Newman. They participated in a number of
workshops, before coming together to end with a Mass. Thank you to
all involved.
This year the annual Vocations Mass is at Corpus Christi Church,
6.30pm on Thursday 19 June. The children in Y3 & 6 will be doing
some work in preparation for this Mass. We have asked the children
if they can support this Mass, but unfortunately we only have 6
children willing to attend. Please consider bringing your children in
their school uniform for this special Mass. We need a couple of
children to carry our school banner. Staff will meet you at the Church.
Please let us know if you are able to attend. Thank you for your
support.
Next Friday members of Y4 have taken the initiative to organise a
cake sale in aid of the Andrew Robinson Young Peoples Trust. This
is a worthy charity which provides support for young disadvantaged
Catholics. Could pupils in Y4 please donate cakes for Friday 20 June
and these will be sold to pupils on the Scots Lane site.

Y6 Awards Ceremony
Last Friday our Y5/6 hard ball cricket team, played a
match against a very experienced Bablake team. The
boys played really well with some excellent wicket keeping and
batting from Noah Wells. Cavan Jordan scored a lovely 4 runs
and Oisin Kavanagh kept the runs ticking along steadily. Some
of our bowling was a little wayward, but Amaan Ali and Oisin
kept Bablake's run tally down through their fast and accurate
bowling.
Y4 went to see Warwickshire play Lancashire at Edgbaston
Cricket Club. The children had a tour of the grounds and the
museum, played on the outfield and watched the cricket. Once
again our children were complemented on their wonderful
behaviour.
Y5 went to the Ageon Tennis Centre in Edgbaston, where they
watched quality tennis and enjoyed some coaching
Children from Y5 & 6 went to a Rugby tournament at the ‘Old
Coventrians’. The children had a lovely afternoon and played
very well.
The World Cup competition this week has been very popular
with the children. The winners will be announced next week.
