Fishing the Fall Blitz with
Outdoor Tom
Thursday, October 2, 7-8:30pm
Newsday outdoors columnist and The Fisherman Magazine managing editor Tom Schlichter will highlight fall
fishing possibilities on the Long Island Sound. Late
September and October offer some of the biggest fish and
hottest action of the year as striped bass, bluefish, false
albacore and blackfish go on a wild feeding binge to stock
up calories for the winter ahead. BPA618
The History of Pizza in New York
Monday, October 13, 7-8:30pm
Join pizza historian Scott Weiner for this fun program on
all things pizza! Scott will illustrate the history of New
York pizza through historic documents, building archives
and other primary sources. You’ll also get to enjoy a slice

Program registration for Bayport-Blue Point library
patrons begins on Wednesday, September 3rd at
10am. Registration is required for all programs listed
unless otherwise noted. Patrons can register online,
by phone, or in person. Patrons who register for
programs that require fees have one week to come
in and pay for the program before their spot is released. Any fees must be paid for by check. Except
for driver safety programs, all checks must be made
out to the Library. Program registration for non-residents will begin on Monday, September 8th.

Knitting and crocheting expert Joan Jewhurst will assist
and advise patrons on current or contemplated projects, as

Station at 12:12pm and you can return home on any train

The Great American Folk Song Revival

For her performance, Ms. Doctorow will concentrate on
the folk music of the early ‘60s, presenting the work of
performers such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Tom Paxton,
Donovan, Richard and Mimi Fariña, Pete Seeger, Dave
Von Ronk, and others. She will also present some of
her original compositions and discuss the songwriting
process, and what it was like growing up with her famous
father world renown author E.L. Doctorow.

Pianist Ethan Leinwand, guitarist Seth Johnson and singer/washboard player, Joaquin Cotler of the group Chickentown are dedicated to the celebration and preservation
of traditional American piano blues. They will entertain

Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing
blocks. At first, build structures to protect against
nocturnal monsters, but as the game grows players can
work together to create wonderful, imaginative things.

PRE-REGISTRATION. Program space is limited and preference is given to children who are Bayport-Blue Point Library district residents. All children must have their own
library card and a password to register online. You may come into the library to register or register by phone. Please have your child’s library card available. For families that
will be away, pre-registration forms will be available on September 3rd. They will be entered on the day of registration. Caregivers please call to register non-district resident
children who will then be placed in programs according to availability. The Children’s Services Department strives to provide fun and educational programs throughout the
year which promote literacy and lifelong learning for children and their families. More and more children are signing up for library programs. To help us better serve you,
please plan to attend all programs your child is registered for. Call in advance if your child will be late or is not able to join us. It is our hope that through programming we
can share our appreciation of books with the children in our community, inspire them to love books and help them discover the joy of reading.

We would like to invite you to participate in this free
program which encourages you to read 1,000 books
with your child before he or she starts kindergarten.
Simply read a book to your newborn, infant, and/or
toddler and then record it. If you read just 1 book a
night, you will have read about 365 books in a year.
At that rate you can read over 1,000 books in just
three years! The key is perseverance! The concept is

truck to collect your electronics. Data stored on all devices
will be destroyed. While most electronics are accepted,
like computers, cell phones, printers, TVs, and keyboards,
not accepted for recycling are large appliances, microwave
ovens, fluorescent bulbs, vacuum cleaners, power tools,
paper shredders or lawn mowers. No sign-up necessary.

Instructor Marcia Salvesen will introduce participants to both chair and gentle yoga over the course
of these five classes. Chair yoga will be aimed towards seniors and those with less mobility. During
later classes you will practice gentle yoga, which

Women have their artistic work in an exhibit arranged by Kathy Wayman in the hall gallery. Blue
Point wood carver Tony Quintal’s birds are on display in the east hall case. In the west case is an exhibit about the Great South Bay Audubon Society,
designed by Lenora Daniel, editor of the Society’s
newspaper the Sandpiper. Harriet Mihlstin’s watch
collection in the LeCluse case suggests time to go
back to school. Bayport Boy Scout Troop # 130
activities are shown in Kim McAward’s exhibit at
the Blue Point Avenue bulletin board.

An excellent photographic exhibit of Old Time
Patchogue mounted by the Patchogue Historical
Society, arranged by Steve Lucas, is hanging in
the hall gallery. Karen McGinley’s JWY Middle
School art students works are in the east hall case.
Little Red Riding Hood marionettes created by
Anne Dreyer Scinto are dancing in the west case
and Randi Morgan’s Barbie Dolls are having a
wild Halloween party in the LeCluse case. October is Bayport Heritage house tour month and Jim
Connell’s photographic exhibit at the Blue Point
Avenue bulletin board of old Bayport houses is a
reminder of what used to be.
