The new provisions aim to modernize and simplify the corporate legal framework in Malaysia to enhance its competitiveness. Lim Jo Yan heads the corporate and commercial practice group in MahWengKwai & Associates and advises on mergers and acquisitions, competition, environmental, real estate, and general corporate and commercial transactions. The objective of this talk is to provide information and insight into the Bill, which will put into effect major changes to the laws which currently govern the formation, operations and regulations of the companies in Malaysia. After graduating from Oxford University, Jo Yan practiced as a litigator with Shook Lin & Bok before focusing in corporate and commercial law with Wong & Partners (a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International). Jo Yan also has experience in joint ventures, corporate and regulatory compliance, personal data protection, anti-corruption and commercial contracts.
