AED Information
1. Per Broward School Board policy 5303 each school and district facility shall have a minimum of two individuals
with current certification in First Aid and CPR/AED. (Two people per AED unit)
AED contact person
1. At the beginning of the school year the principal needs to pick a contact person for the AED. Per the Principals checklist
that is emailed out at the beginning of the school year.
2. AED contact person should be familiar with the items contained on the Principals checklist.
3. The contact person must have an email address.
4. Print new 911 posters and AED log.
5. The AED contact must make sure there is an Emergency Procedures Poster by the AED and that the AED Sticker has been
posted.
6. The contact person looks over the equipment (at least once every two weeks) to make sure it is working properly. Makes
sure the pads and batteries are in date and that all expired pads and batteries have been returned to the Safety Department.
911 Posters
1. The school or district facility must have at least two updated 911 posters (in color).
2. Per Health Ed Services posters should be located in the health room, front office, cafeteria and the physical
education areas. For further information on the placement of 911 posters please contact Health Ed Services at 754-321-2274.
3. 911 posters must be updated yearly and whenever there is a change in personnel who are trained to provide the services listed
on the 911 posters.
Emergency Procedures Poster
1. The school or district site should have one emergency procedure poster by the AED location. (in color)

1. The school or district site must have one AED Sticker per unit.

At the beginning of the school year please go to the Safety website and print an updated log.
Please fill out AED log completely in pen.
AED must be checked every two weeks.
If you have more than one unit you will need more than one log.
Keep copies of current employee AED cards with log.
At the end of the school year DO NOT FAX please scan or send a copy of the completed AED log to Sandy Ondo in the
Safety Department.

1. Order new pads and batteries when they are at expiration date or are registering a low reading. Stickers can be ordered
from the website. If you do not have a color printer please order your 911 and Emergency posters from the website.
2. The 911 posters, Emergency Procedures poster and the AED log can all be printed from the Safety website.
3. The manuals for the LifePak 500 and the Heartstart can be printed from this website.

**Expired pads and expired or low batteries: Go to the Safety Department website. There is a form to order those items by email.
***Zipper Kits/CPR Kits must be ordered through a vendor.
**NOTE: If you need 911 posters please go to the Safety Department web site, it will be under Preparedness Materials.
Please print the 911 posters in color, you may also print as many as you like.
**PLEASE SCAN/ SEND YOUR COMPLETED LOGS AT THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR TO THE SAFETY DEPARTMENT.
