India Engineering Deans Chapter (IEDC)
This Chapter was formed in 2013.

In 2014, 13 of these have renewed their active membership of IEDC and will be participating in
the WEEF 2014 along with other members of IUCEE
List of 26 participants in WEEF 2014 is attached. 10 of these participants will be presenting
papers and chairing sessions as well.
During 2013-14, following are highlights of the activities of India Engineering Deans Chapter
(IEDC)
The Chair of IEDC, Dr, K.M. Babu can present this in Dubai at the GEDC meeting
IEDC is an integral part of IUCEE which is a member of IFEES. IEDC is the leadership team in
India which works with IUCEE Consortium in India IUCEE leadership in the US to plan and
implement programs for developing and improving the ecosystem for delivering global quality
engineering education in India
 Annual International Conference on Transformations in Engineering Education, coorganized by IUCEE/IEDC at one of the IUCEE Consortium Institutions.
o ICTIEE 2014 held in Hubli, January 15 70 18, 2014. Over 400 participants; 150
papers presented and published
o ICTIEE 2015 planned for Bangalore, Jan 5 to 8, 2015. Expect over 600
participants; 280 papers submitted.
 SPEED India programs for developing engineering student leadership
o Indian Student Forum (ISF 2014) conducted for 120 students as part of ICTIEE
2014, Hubli, Jan 14 to 16, 2014
o 6 Regional SPEED workshops conducted during 2014 with IUCEE/IEDC support
o First Grand Challenges Video Competition conducted with support of SMART,
USA
o SPEED India leadership team to participate in GSF 2014 Dubai
 ASEE India Chapter formed with 30 members who are active in IUCEE; some of these
are members of IEDC.
o 9 members attended ASEE Annual Conference in Indianapolis in June 2014 and
conducted one session.
 IUCEE Virtual Academy continues in its fourth year since starting in 2011
o Average two webinars per week are offered by Indian or US experts
o Recordings are made available to IUCEE Consortium members
 Journal for Engineering Education Transformation (JEET) co-published by IUCEE/IEDC
at Rajarambapu Institute of Technology
o Transformed existing Journal of Engineering Education (JEE) to make it more
global
o First quarterly issue in revised format to be released in November.





IUCEE has partnered with InPods (based in the US) to provide a e-learning platform for
Indian and US faculty to co-create high quality engineering course content with student
access and analytics for outcomes.
o 36 Indian faculty participated in Phase I of Project GENTLE (Global Education
Network for Teaching and Learning Engineering)
IUCEE Teacher Certification Program in Collaboration with IGIP, Austria and Microsoft
India
o Pilot to be launched by IUCEE/IEDC in Spring 2015 starting with ICTIEE 2015
IUCEE and IEDC leaders are assisting World Bank Institute (WBI) in organizing a
Workshop on “Engineering Education in India for 2025” to held in Bangalore following
ICTIEE 2015 on Jan 9, 2015. This event co-organized by WBI, MHRD India and CII
India.
IUCEE Research Academy conducted in March 2014 at Gujarat Technical University
(GTU)
o US faculty serve as PhD Co-guides to PhD candidates at GTU
IUCEE Consortium of engineering institutions continues to be the foundation of
sustainability for IUCEE and IEDC with 70 fees-paying members.
o IEDC members are heads of some of these active colleges and are active in
recruiting more colleges.
