COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS 17TH/18TH MAY
The Young Athletes of Wreake Runners enjoyed a really successful weekend at the County Championships
which were held in Nuneaton in conjunction with the Warwickshire championships.
Out of 19 performances there were 11 personal bests - a great achievement and demonstrates that the training
is going in the right direction. Amongst all the great performances there are a couple to mention, Morgan was
either the luckiest or unluckiest of the championships, unlucky for missing out on gold in both his events by a
tenth of a second on each occasion – well done a great effort for a brace of silver medals. I would like to
mention Jess who had she been in the Warwickshire race would have won the gold medal (not the only one to
have done so) but was really thrilled to complete her week 12 seconds quicker for her 800m, it was unfortunate
that she was suffering an illness and was unable to race the 1500 on the Sunday. The question is what could she
have done had she been well???? Fern as I think everyone know knows won the county championship in a really
high quality race which saw all top three finishers record the 5th/6th and 8th fastest times in the UK this year.
Ferns time was also a county championship record!
Well done to all who performed so admirably for the club and I am looking forward to see the great
perfomances continue.

Heart of England – Corby
It was always going to be a tough call being up against the bigger clubs with lots of athletes to choose from in
division 2 and especially, it seems, that clubs are choosing to target leagues like the HoE rather than travel long
distances to do the YDL. In our opening match in Corby we got to half way in the match in 4th place but were
dropped in the 2nd half of the match, however we just about held our own and are above the relegation zone but it’s
very tight!
Thanks to everyone who took part and for taking part in events that were more than unfamiliar to some of you.

Quadkids
A really good turnout for the first Quadkids
event of 2014, with a 20% increase in athletes
competing. Wreake were well represented
again which is great to see.
We placed well in all age groups, the highlight
being the winning team in the Year 5-6 Boys
category.
A special mention for Lucca Watson-Quilter
who had the highest individual score for the
whole competition with 259 Points! Well
done!
