The picnic was participated by more than a hundred family members, including some of the Newman Club students. We were graced by the presence of Fr. Peter Lavin and Fr. Dodik Atentar, who just arrived from the Philippines & now assigned in St. Pius X in New York and of course, our resident priests, Fr. Ian, Fr. Aaron and Fr. Randy, our game organizers. We had prayers, food and fun games. The joy and laughter was non-stop in every team and the happiness they expressed in receiving their prizes. It was a perfect time to spend an enjoyable moment with family and friends. The enjoyable day concluded with a rosary and blessing. A lot of the lucky players won big bucks. We were able to raise some amount that benefit the activities of YDM. Walk with Christ II– Adult Edition (March 29, 2014) Fr. Ian, Fr. Aaron, and Fr. Randy offered a Lenten retreat to all members and supporters . It was a chance for us to nurture and enhance our faith in action. The theme was the 4 G’s of evangelizing: generosity, goodness, grace, gratitude. An activity that was humbling was the washing of a friend’s foot. 2 Dance Night Fundraiser (May 3, 2014) This fundraiser was a great success! Thanks to all who came to support this worthy cause! Fr. Ian, Fr. Aaron and Fr. Randy showed off their dancing skills with a dance called “Happy”. Everyone had fun learning various line dances which Cynthia Hernandez offered to teach. Since then, the group decided to continue with the line dance class once a week.. Come & join us every Monday at the Music & Motion dance Studio located in Norwalk, Ca from 8—10 pm for a fun DANCEXERCISE! Frs. Ian, Randy and Aaron dancing “Happy” at the Dance Night Fundraiser. . Vocation Assistance Program for Seminarians Corner by Milette Killens In the 1st issue of SIBOL, Vocation Assistance Program Corner, I mentioned “MaMe Ko” as one of our regular donors. MaMe Ko stands for MAry MEdiatrix KOmunidad which was formed by a Couples for Christ member, Pete Villegas, on February 26, 2011. The image of the Mary Mediatrix stays with the host family for at least a month and during that period of time, the host family schedules a “2000 Hail Marys” prayer on the last Saturday. A donation box labeled “For the Alagad ni Maria Seminarians” is placed in one of the tables with the prayer booklets and any donations collected is given for the Vocation Assistance Program. When I first heard of “MaMe Ko”, I thought it was so cleverly created as it referred to our Mama Mary being our mother (mommy ko or our mother) which is so perfectly fitting for all Marian devotees which include our Alagad ni Maria Religious Community. Cheers to this prayer group for what they do and God’s abundant blessings to all our sponsors and donors. 3 DISCIPLES OF MARY MINISTRY IN THE DIOCESE OF ORANGE, USA Young Disciples of Mary (YDM)–Past Youth Events By Fr. Mark Aaron Riomalos, AM H.O.L.Y (Hours of the Lord & Youth) (April 12, 2014) In preparation for the coming Holy Week, the YDM organized a retreat . The best way to prepare ourselves in celebrating the Holy Week is by the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. First Summer Sports Fest (June 28, 2014) The youth looked forward to this activity as they start their summer vacation. The Y.D.M and the Newman Club had a fantastic sports events of basketball, volleyball and some board games at St. Juliana Parish Center in Fullerton, CA. An exhibition game with the F.A.M.I.L.Y members, the Priests (Frs. Aaron, Ian, Jose) and guests was played to deepen the camaraderie and friendship among the youth, young adults and parents. The activity begun with a prayer reflection and culminated with a 5:00 PM Mass at the church. Fr. Jose from the East Coast participated as a special guest.
