California Open UC Davis – ARC/Pavilion February 2, 2014 Doors and general admission sales will open at 8:15am. All teams should report to the registration table no later than 45 minutes prior to the beginning of the division in which they are competing. Two free passes will be allotted to each school/group for advisors/coaches at registration. Additional spectator wristbands may be purchased for $12.00 (13 and older) and $5.00 (6-12 years of age) at the Northeast lobby ticket windows. You will need to submit an alphabetized list of all participating students as well as a signed USA medical release form (school and youth teams) for each participating student. NO COMPETITORS FROM SCHOOL-BASED TEAMS WILL BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE WITHOUT AN ORIGINAL, SIGNED MEDICAL RELEASE FORM. WE ASK THAT ALL MEDICAL FORMS PLEASE BE ALPHABETIZED. NEW- Every all star performer (cheer and dance) must be a current registered member of the USASF. Each team is required to turn in their USASF team roster at registration on the day of the USA competition. Each team that is performing must have a USASF roster to turn in order to compete. Go to www.usasf.net for more information or contact the USA office with questions regarding this 2013-14 USASF policy. First aid staff will be on site to provide assistance for emergencies only. Taping of wrists/ankles for individual performers will not be available. Should a participant sustain a suspected concussion during the event(s) he will not be allowed to perform until cleared by a doctor. Cash only will be accepted – correct change is appreciated. Children aged five and under are admitted free of charge. PARKING FEES: $8.00 PER CAR (Cash Only) There are no in-out parking privileges. Parking locations will be at the discretion of UC Davis. Parking rates subject to change Outside food, coolers or drinks are not permitted inside of the UC Davis ARC/Pavilion. Concessions will be available. Cash only will be accepted at the concessions booths. There will be no seat saving permitted. All seats are on a first-come, first-serve basis. As a reminder, the USA and/or UC Davis will not be responsible for lost/stolen items at the competition. Please encourage team members to leave valuables, bags etc. in their vehicles. Do not leave bags unattended. For security reasons all competitors must stay in possession of their bags at all times. There will be a bag search as you enter the UC Davis ARC/Pavilion. Competition will begin at 9:30 AM. Please refer to the enclosed tentative performance schedule. Please check the USA website (usa.varsity.com) on the Wednesday before the competition after 5:00 p.m. (PST), for a final schedule. A final schedule will also be available at the registration table on the day of the event. All teams must be ready to perform 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time. In order to avoid a possible penalty, any changes must be received in the USA office in writing by 5:00 p.m. (PST) the Friday one week prior to your competition date. No changes will be allowed on the day of the event. OVER Music CDs must be properly labeled with the team name and division. Please hold on to your music until the time of your performance. A team representative must remain at the sound station during your team’s performance. The sound technician will be able to accommodate audio CDs and MP3s. If using an MP3, smart phone, etc. please ensure that there is no case on the device which will obstruct the jack from plugging into the sound system. If you are using a smart phone, please ensure that no interruptions (i.e. phone call, alarm, etc.) occur during your performance. There will be assigned warm-up/practice time offered for each team. Teams must report to the warm-up area located at Station #1 (refer to Pavilion Map), in the Southwest corner of the Pavilion at the time designated on the “Warm-Up” schedule. Teams will not be permitted to enter the warm-up area earlier than their assigned check-in time. All schoolbased cheer teams will have the opportunity to practice/warm-up on a carpet bonded foam mat measuring at least 30’ x 42’. There will be a spring tumbling strip available for all-star teams with a specialized warm-up schedule. All Star cheer teams will perform on a spring floor measuring 54’ x 42’. All other cheer teams will perform on a carpet bonded foam mat measuring 54’x 42’ (9 strips). Ceiling height of the performance area is 46’6”. All dance/song teams will perform on a pulastic surface. School and Youth Sports Spirit teams, please note the AACCA School Cheer Safety Rules, USA Song/Pom/Pep Flag Safety Rules, and the Show Cheer and Song/Pom Division Limitations posted at usa.varsity.com. Remember that three points will be deducted from the final team average of each occurrence of an illegal procedure. Performance error deductions will be assessed for cheer divisions. Video Taping Policy - For safety and security we respectfully request that videotaping be limited to performances of your school/organization only. Tri-pod cameras may not be set-up at any time. Again, video taping is permitted, but only of the routine(s) that are being performed by your participant's team. Scoresheets will be distributed to all teams at the conclusion of the competition. Only an authorized team advisor/coach who is designated at team registration may pick these up. A photo I.D. will be required for scoresheet pick up. Recaps may be requested via the USA website (usa.varsity.com) following the competition. Due to the many crossover participants, performance times have been scheduled as best as possible. We have done everything we can so the teams can make the warm up times at Station #3. However, warm up times may have conflicts and cannot be adjusted. USA Spirit Opens are not qualifying competitions for any USA Nationals event. Each performer will receive a participation trading pin. Trophies will be presented to 50% of the teams competing in each division. For all first place teams, each individual member on the team will receive a 1st place “Champion” Tshirt. For divisions with 2 or more teams competing, first place teams will also receive a Championship banner.
