As the demand for energy has increased in the United States, so has the demand for natural gas. Recent development activity is increasing the nation's ability to rely more on clean-burning natural gas supplies and less on coal and oil. In response to the increasing demand for natural gas and related transmission services into the northeast. Tennessee is proposing the Northeast Expansion Project to upgrade its existing pipeline system within New York, Massachusetts. Connecticut and New Hampshire. As configured, the proposed project will result in the construction of approximately 250 miles of new pipeline. Tennessee anticipates that it will be able to locate a significant portion of the pipeline adjacent, or generally parallel, to existing pipeline and electric utility corridors. Pending receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals, the proposed project is estimated to be placed in-service by November 2018. 1 have included a preliminary project overview and map for your reference. Tennessee plans to explore this effort with interested stakeholders, including landowners, elected officials, and local governments and their residents, as well as the appropriate state and federal regulatory agencies. ( -Tennessee"), a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan, Inc., proposes the Northeast Expansion Project to upgrade its existing Tennessee Gas Pipeline system within New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut. • The project, as currently configured, would result in the construction of approximately 250 miles of new pipeline, additional meter stations and modifications to existing facilities. • • Tennessee anticipates that it will be able to locate a significant portion of the pipeline adjacent, or generally parallel to, existing pipeline and electric utility corridors Northeast Expansion Project is projected to create over 3,000 jobs during the peak construction period. • This expansion project is developed to meet increased demand in the U.S. Northeast for transportation capacity for natural gas - a clean, environmentally friendly energy source produced domestically. Pending receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals, the proposed project is estimated to be placed inservice by November 2018, so the additional gas supplies are available for the winter heating season.
