Nueces County A&M Club cordially invites you to the
2014 Lonesome Dove BBQ. Thanks to the continued
support of the Berry family this year’s event will again be
held at the Lonesome Dove Ranch, just west of Corpus
Christi.
The Lonesome Dove BBQ is a family event that offers
fun for all ages like swimming, a moonwalk for the kids,
trap & skeet shooting, fishing in private lake, washers,
horseshoes and more. We will have a big screen
television available so we can all enjoy the game. Gates
will open prior to kickoff so come early and enjoy the
ranch!
Aggie volunteers will prepare and serve Texas-style
barbeque with all the fixings. We ask those whose last
names begin with A-M to bring a dessert and those
whose last name begins with N-Z to bring an appetizer.
There will be a raffle and silent auction featuring many
great items with all proceeds benefitting our scholarship
fund.
The event is FREE for contributing members who are
current on dues. The cost is $25 per family for non-paid
members.
For directions for the short drive to Lonesome Dove or
for more information on the event please visit our
website at www.saltyaggies.com or our Facebook page.
Please join us at the Lonesome Dove Ranch on
November 8th as we enjoy good times with good friends!

The 2014 Salty Aggies Fishing Tournament
was held Saturday August 16, 2014 at Doc’s
Seafood & Steaks on the Intracoastal Canal
on North Padre Island, Corpus Christi. There
was also a Social on Friday night August 15
with food, cash bar, music, raffle, and
tournament side pots. Both events were well
attended with nearly 70 registered anglers
and more than 250 attendees - including
many non-anglers that came out just for the
Social, the Lil’ Angler Program, and the
weigh-in.
David Doria was the top money-winner of
the 2014 Salty Aggies Fishing Tournament –
his 8.05 lb redfish brought home $850
between both the tournament prize and the
side pot prize, since he paid $50 to enter the
redfish side pot. Dillion Beck took home
$675 for his trout, the heaviest weighed in at
3.60 lb. Not bad for a $75 tournament entry
fee and $50 trout side pot entry!
Congratulations to David and Dillion, and all
the other top anglers that were awarded
prizes: Brenna Tipps, Matt McNeil, Don
Barnett, Sr., and Aaron Price.
The Lil’ Anglers learned about coastal
creatures and environments, conservation,
and fishing, including free lunch and a piggy
perch tournament that far exceeded
expectations! Thanks to our wonderful
sponsors Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries
Program, Texas A&M University – Corpus
Christi Center for Coastal Studies, Texas
Parks & Wildlife Coastal Fisheries
Department, Texas Parks & Wildlife Angler
Education, Corpus Christi Museum of
Science & History, Mustang Island State
Park, Texas Sealife Center, Corpus Christi
Recycles, Texas Master Naturalists, Skip the
Plastic, Texas State Aquarium, and the
Texas A&M University Prospective Student
Center.
Thanks to all our great sponsors, donors,
and ANGLERS! We couldn’t do it without the
strong Aggie and community support we are
blessed to have. We hope you will all
participate again in August 2015 – we will
start planning and announce the date ASAP.
Not only did we have a great time and award
more than $2600 in prize money – we also
raised more than $4900 for our endowed
scholarship fund that helps send worthy
Nueces County high school students to our
great university! A special thanks to our
Maroon Sponsors that helped make this
possible: Fulton Construction, Carlisle
Insurance, CCC Group and Citof.com.
This year’s tournament was not just about
the adults, either! Our inaugural year of the
Lil’ Angler Program was a huge success with
about 40 kids participating.
