ifa is committed to peaceful and enriching coexistence
between people and cultures worldwide. We promote art and
cultural exchange in exhibitions, dialogue and conference
programs. As a competence centre for international cultural
relations, ifa connects civil societies, cultural practices, art,
media and science. We initiate, moderate and document
discussions on international cultural relations.
This workshop will give an overview on the art
department of the German institution ifa (Institut für
Auslandsbeziehungen) and will focus on a conversation
with the audience about international artistic exchanges, ifa
projects, including ifa-Galerie Berlin and FLAX . It is intended
for international artists and people in the creative industries
who wish to find more information about the German art
scene, or are looking for an opportunity to undertake artistic
work in Germany.
ifa gives people worldwide the opportunity to find out more
about Germany; Exchange programmes, exhibitions, books
and magazines, lectures and visitors’ programmes offer
innovative perspectives from contemporary Germany.
With its exhibition funding programme the ifa supports
projects of contemporary German artists or artists with
residence in Germany. The Artists’ Contacts programme
promotes the international cooperation of German and
foreign persons engaged in the cultural sector. The Rave
Scholarships for junior employees form transition or
developing country allow practical training at German
museums, galleries or similar non-commercial institutions.
Artguide Germany is an annotated collection of links that
presents Germany’s diverse art landscape.
Elke aus dem Moore, born in 1965, is head of Visual Arts
Department at ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen/
Institute for international cultural relations) since 2008.
Alya Sebti, born in 1983, director of ifa-Galerie Berlin since
2016 and works internationally as independent curator and
author since 2010.
