From the President’s Desk
Liebe Mitglieder!
As we swing into the second half of the year I am happy to report
that attendance at functions in recent months have improved and
that is a good sign for the coming months as we head toward
2017 which will be the Club’s 60th year in Adelaide.
The 59th AGM for our club was held on Sunday 7th August and
we say thank you to all of the members who attended and took an active interest in
our club and what happened during the last twelve months. I am pleased to report
that all but one position has been filled for the next twelve months and we look
forward to a rewarding year ahead. Many thanks to everyone who has volunteered
their services on the extended working roster for the next twelve months, it is
much appreciated.
There was three significant retirements this year, firstly our very long serving
minute keeper Anni Clark who has decided to put her pen in the draw, has done a
great job in keeping our records in order and has given the executive committee
outstanding service. Thank you Anni for a fantastic effort and we will miss your
experience. Secondly our long serving internal auditor Pia Monz has also retired
after many years of checking club and subgroup accounts. Pia has worked quietly
in the background and has performed her duties with distinction. Our sincere
thanks Pia for your outstanding service to the club. Our last retirement this year
from the executive is our very hard working 1st Secretary Gerhard Lachs who has
been in and out of this position for the last ten years. Gerhard is a highly
experienced executive member but unfortunately he needs to have a break from
duties. Thank you Gerhard for an outstanding effort and we also acknowledge and
thank Gerhard’s wife Brigitte who has also spent many tireless hour for the benefit
of our club.
Gerhard will remain as acting secretary until the October committee meeting
where he will step down from his duties. Thanks Gerhard for your continuing
support of our club.
We are pleased to welcome Maria Bubner as internal auditor and also Paige
Heywood as minute keeper to the executive committee for 2016/17. Thank you for
nominating and we look forward to your contribution for the next twelve months.
On Saturday the 30th July we had an outstanding event in the the form of a fund
raising dinner. Adelaide’s much celebrated Austrian Chef Mr. Peter Jarmer
donated his services to the club and it was a fantastic evening of fine food and
Gemütlichkeit. Thank you Peter for you wonderful gesture and this evening will be
long remembered. We also would like to thank our Honourary Austrian Consul
Susi Tegen who was able to obtain two tickets to the opening night of the
Adelaide’s season of “The sound of Music” which was first prize in our tombola.

Many thanks to the Austrian National tourist Office in Sydney for their kind
donation of these tickets. I wish also to acknowledge the outstanding efforts from
Dorli Feuerrreiter, Angelika Stauber, Manfred and Traudl Andersen, Gottfied and
Willy Gangl who all helped to make this evening an outstanding success.

Liebe Mitglieder,
On Thursday 25th August we will be celebrating
our 28th Birthday with a catered lunch in our
Club rooms.
Once again we have had two successful Bus
Tours this year and we were happy to have non
members join us to bolster our slowly declining numbers. During the year we have
had a lost a couple of members due to various health issues which is unavoidable in
our group. What stands out during the whole year is the zest and excitement that
members have show at our meetings. The word “Gemütlichkeit“ fits right in at our
meetings, everyone is relaxed and has a good time.
Helga Ueding had to quit our group when she went into a nursing home, but she
missed it so much she talked her son and daughter in-law into joining our Group,
so now they pick her up and come to our meetings. A win win for all.
Brigitte and I enjoy being part of this group and we hope that it will keep going for
many more years yet. We thank all the ladies who bake cakes and everyone else
who helped us when help was required.
Our next Bus Tour will be on Thursday 20th October 2016, destination yet to be
decided. Any members who would like to join us please contact us on 8251 2975.

Dear Friends of the Table Tennis Group,
How quickly the time goes as we have now reached September
already. We have about 21 players in the group, and now make
use of our third table to play on.
I am very well pleased, our group has done really well in several
competitions, and well done to you.

New table tennis players are always welcome, it is a physical fitness sport which
can be enjoyed by young and old alike, whether you are a beginner or an advanced
player. We play every Monday from 7pm till 9pm approximately.

Chor Alpenfrieden
GRÜASS GOTT VOM “CHOR ALPENFRIEDEN”!
Wie schnell die Zeit vergeht, nun ist es schon wieder Zeit über
unseren Chor zu berichten.
Nicht viel Neues ist geschehen. Wir sollten in einem von der
Liedertafel organisierten Konzert singen. Leider konnte dieses
nicht stattfinden, da aus mangeldem Interesse nicht genügend
Karten verkauft wurden. Schade, denn wir freuten uns schon sehr darauf. Na ja so
geht es halt manchesmal im Leben.
Unser Chor ist fleißig am Proben für den Alpenfriedenball. Hoffentlich kommt Ihr
alle. Natürlich werden wir ein paar schöne Lieder singen, ausserdem haben wir
eine große Tombola und eine Floorshow als Überraschung parat. Das Thema
dieser Show ist noch nicht ganz sicher, aber wie immer werden wir Euch, liebe
Gäste, damit sicher nicht enttäuschen.

The choir is also practising songs for the Austrian Staatafeiertag, which is on the
29th of October 2016.
Now to something important. The choir is of course not getting any younger, so we
could do with a few new members. It is not hard to sing in a different language, we
have quite a few different nationalities singing in the choir and they do it well and
enjoy it. So if you like singing and maybe would like to be in a choir, come along
on a Tuesday at 6pm at the Austrian Club (in the hall upstairs) and see how you
feel. We will welcome you with open arms and make you very welcome indeed.
Even with a cup of coffee and cake afterwards.

Acting 1st Secretary Report
Liebe Mitglieder,
This was my Annual report at the A.G.M.
We keep on saying how quick a year passes by and it does, only
when you look back that all the functions and events that took
place over the year you realise that it was a long slow year.
We have been the busiest German Speaking Club in Adelaide. Our Members have
the opportunity to attend more functions than any other Club.
Our Live Music Cellar Nights are still very popular and always sold out. The FilmNachmittage on Sundays are well attended and recently held Fund Raising Dinner
with Peter Jarmer was a big hit for our members and friends. Sadly, our Saturday
and Sunday functions have not fared so well.
As I am sure you are aware of, for every function held in this Club we need
volunteers to help organise and run them. We have been lucky so far to have many
members to help out but as we are all getting older some of us cannot carry on
anymore. Keep this in mind when we ask for new volunteers for next year. Without
you we cannot achieve anything.
The new vergola dance floor which was ready for a 1st Biergarten last November
has been a great success for our dances. We were so lucky that this floor is water
resistant and came onto the market from Germany only a couple of months before
hand. I have been assured by Optus that the problem with the leaking rood over the
dance floor will fixed by the end of September so we will not have to cover the
floor anymore.
A leak from our hot water system caused our conference room carpet to become
water logged so the insurance paid for the new carpet and we then paid for the
office carpet to be renewed at the same time. Club has accepted a quotation to lay a
new carpet to the passage and staircase, it will be installed before Association Ball.
The use of our hall dancefloor by the Turning Point Ballet School looks like being
ended by the end of the year. It has been a good income earner and in good
community spirit.
With our 60th Anniversary next year plans are being made to make this a very
exciting year for the Club and you the Members. I hope you will get behind the
Committee to make it a success.
I wish the new Committee the very best for the next year, and everyone who is
going overseas to have a safe and great time.
I wish to thank the Committee Members, Volunteers of the working Committee for
all there help over the years to allow me to do my job.

RADIO AUSTRIA 4 - 5EBI-FM 103.1 MHz
Dear Listeners and Friends of Radio Austria 4!
There was another good year for Radio Austria 4. The team is
happy about positive feedback and our weekly programs are
running smoothly.
After our AGM in July the current radio team consists of our President Heinz
Fuchs, Vice President Herbie Reiter, Treasurer and Secretary Angelika Stauber,
Rosmarie Libiseller, Sabine Orchard-Simonides, Gerhard and Renate Hutterer,
Erica Frey - who is currently in Austria, my humble self Herbert Stauber and our
new member Michael Neuerer. Michael and his wife Ingrid recently came from
Freising in Bavaria, Germany. Also in sight is a new member with good reading
skills. His name is Stefan Bruneder. He hopefully will join our team soon.
Many thanks to our sponsors GM Joinery and Melanns Fabrics who are
supporting Radio Austria 4 for many years. Also a very big Thank You to our
former Austrian Consul Robert Gerard who was sponsoring Radio Austria 4 for
17 years. Unfortunately with his resignation as a Honorary Consul he also had
finished his sponsorship and we sadly miss his yearly generous donation.
So for buying broadcasting time and producing our programs we need money. Our
next Radiothon will be held on Sunday the 4th of September. From 10 to 11.30 am
every listener is very welcome to call us in the studio on  (08) 8211 7066.
All the donations will go directly to Radio Austria 4 and are most appreciated.
At the moment our website radioaustria4.com reached 62.000 visitors. With the
app soundcloud our programs also are available on smartphones and tablets.
All what you need is to install the app soundcloud and put in: "Radio Austria 4".
The EBI Radiothon for 2016 will be held during the whole October. All donations
will be appreciated by our station 5EBI-FM and all their 53 connected nations.
