＜講師略歴＞
イギリス出身、１９９７年より日本在住。
中学校で８年間、ＡＬＴ（外国語援助教師）として勤務。大学でも４年間、非常勤英語講師と
して勤務し、小学校や塾でも英会話を教えるなど、さまざまな教育を経験している。大学院で
は言語学を専攻し、イギリスでは小学校教育を研究。このような経験の中から、サドベリー風
の教育が一番子どもにいいと結論した。
趣味は、海に行ったり、自転車に乗ったりすること。絵や漫画を描くのも好き。
教育についての本も書いていて、ＡＬＴの授業の教科書が完成し、英語の討論の教科書も準備
している。
＜講演概要＞
In this presentation I am going to present an idea for how
we should approach education in our society. I'm going to
start by taking a quick look at what we think of as
education and school, in order to expose some of the
assumptions we are making.
Finally I will conclude by offering some thoughts on how this
style of egalitarian education is essentially humanistic and
how it forms what I believe is a much better basis for a
fulfilling life than does the current state system of
study-and-exams.
