What can the International Centre do for me?
The International Centre (IC) supports your global experience at U of T Mississauga (UTM) and
beyond. It provides advising, transition support, and a local resource for both international, and
internationally-minded students at UTM.
You can connect with the IC for assistance with:
• Citizenship and Immigration Canada documents and advice
• Study abroad options
• Adjusting to life here or abroad
• English conversation support
• Work and volunteer opportunities and support
• Leadership opportunities
The International Centre offers opportunities to connect with the 1,000+ international students at
UTM. The Centre also offers resources and referrals to community cultural resources in the Peel
Region, and helps international students get connected to their community at UTM and beyond.
I come from outside Canada. Where do I begin?
Connect with the IC - whether you’re coming to Canada for the first time or you’ve lived here
before, the IC is here to support study-permit holding students, new and returning Canadians, and
students who wish to study abroad.
How can I internationalize my degree?
Our students are in classrooms all over the world. The Student Exchange program provides access to
more than 130 institutions in over 35 countries, and the Summer Abroad program offers more than 30
courses in 16 countries. If you want to immerse yourself in another culture, learn a new language,
make connections around the world, or broaden your perspetive, connect with the IC to embark on
your study abroad adventure.
What other resources & services does u of t mississauga offer?
U of T Mississauga offers a casual English conversation program, where students who are non-native speakers
can practice their English communication skills in a friendly, non-threatening environment. There’s also the
University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), and through the Career Centre & IC, you can learn more about
finding work to gain experience while studying.
Last but not least, U of T Mississauga also GUARANTEES residence placement to new international students
who complete the residence application process on time and extends this benefit with a conditional
four-year campus housing guarantee.
