The desire to explore unknown places and the idea to have journeys to somewhere with or/and without specific mission have motivated people to travel around the world. And to satisfy these desires, we have developed various technologies such as automobiles, aircrafts and even rockets to the space!! We are still developing new technologies for faster and more convenient travels. Although the highly developed technologies have improved our living standards dramatically, they give also the negative impacts to our society. For example, many researchers have warned that the carbon dioxide emitted from traffic may change the climate in the global scale. We should solve these problems as urgently as possible in order to save our invaluable lives and the earth as well as to keep our effective and creative activities in attractive and comfortable space. Transport research covers various topics. They include the fundamental studies on our desire of travel as well as the applied researches on the mechanism of transport-oriented problems and on the transport planning/policy to solve these problems.
