Sebastian Ebert, Tilburg University, offers a one-day course on the foundations
of behavioral insurance.
Topics include:
• Behavioral finance vs. behavioral insurance
• Behavioral biases and their relevance for insurance
• Puzzles in insurance demand
• Framing of insurance contracts
• Prospect theory and insurance demand
• Downside risk aversion and insurance demand
This course is aimed for interested graduate students and practitioners. No prior knowledge
of behavioral economics, finance, or insurance is required. The lectures are based on a
course in Tilburg University’s curriculum for PhD students.
Cost: 150 CHF (Sandwich Lunch, Coffee Breaks included) - Students are free of charge

Sebastian Ebert is Assistant Professor (tenure-track)
at Tilburg University and Member of CentER and the
Experimental Economists at Tilburg.
Based on the course, Ebert was elected Best Lecturer
in Tilburg University’s Graduate Program in Business
in the academic year 2013-2014.
