Matrix è stata fondata nel 1984 e ha dato vita, nell'arco
di due decenni, ad una delle collezioni più affascinanti
di classici del design che produce e distribuisce in
tutto il mondo. Matrix ha contribuito a diffonderne la
conoscenza e a rendere questi prodotti accessibili ad
un ampio pubblico, dopo che a un lungo periodo di
oblio era seguita una fase di riscoperta e rilettura non
sempre corrette, che ne hanno fatto degli stereotipi
di una idea dell'abitare mai del tutto compresa.
Confrontarsi quotidianamente con l'eccellenza tecnica
e formale di questi prodotti, ha spinto Matrix a mettere
sempre al centro della propria azione il fare le cose
bene: disciplina che le ha permesso di raggiungere
un elevato standard di qualità, fatto di esperienza e
competenza sulla lavorazione del ferro, del legno,
sugli imbottiti e sulla tappezzeria, messe a frutto nella
nuova linea di prodotti The Ultimate Collection.
La collezione viene presentata per la prima volta
in questo volume e interpreta in modo sempre più
attento alcune nuove esigenze dell'abitare. Nelle
diverse sezioni del catalogo che include poltrone e
divani, sedie, tavoli e complementi sono confluiti alcuni
progetti inediti di maestri come Eero Saarinen, esito
di ricerche e collaborazioni con gli eredi degli autori; la
collezione iclude anche molti progetti contemporanei,
sviluppati anche a contatto con il mondo della ricerca
universitaria, come l'ultima creazione Change.
La pubblicazione di questo volume, che raccoglie
l'essenza più intima del proprio metodo di lavoro nasce
dal desiderio di affermare il senso di appartenenza ad
un progetto ancora vivo, che ha segnato l'inizio e dato
la direzione di marcia a questa esperienza. Matrix si è
sviluppata ed è cresciuta, come ogni realtà d'impresa,
grazie al contributo di molte persone, cui va la
riconoscenza per il lavoro svolto, che continua a offrire
stimoli e idee.
Matrix was established in 1984 and created –through
two decades– one of the most fascinating design
classics collection which the company produces and
distributes across the world. Matrix has contributed
to make these products known and accessible to
a wide range of people when rediscovery and new
interpretations – not appropriate at all times – which
have turned the concept of home, a never fully
understood concept, into stereotypes, were brought
about following a long period of oblivion. A daily
confrontation with the technical and formal excellence
of these products has driven Matrix to focus on doing
things the right way: this factor has allowed Matrix
to attain high quality standards based on experience
and skills in ironworking, woodworking, padding and
upholstery, successfully used in the new The Ultimate
Collection product line.
This collection is presented for the first time in this
book and pays painstaking attention to the new interior
requirements. The different sections of the catalogue
– which includes armchairs, sofas, chairs, tables and
accessories – embrace a number of original projects
by masters such as Eero Saarinen, the fruit of research
by and cooperation with the heirs of the authors. The
collection also includes present day projects, also
developed in cooperation with university research
circles, such as Change, the latest creation.
The publication of this book, which embodies the most
innermost essence of the working methods, fulfills the
wish to uphold a sense of belonging to a project that is
lively as yet, which has marked the outset and shows
the way to this experience.
Matrix has developed and grown up, as any enterprise,
thanks to the contribution of a large number of
individuals to whom we are grateful for the work
performed which keeps affording incentives and ideas.
Matrix wurde 1984 gegründet und erweckte in einem
Zeitraum von zwanzig Jahren eine der faszinierendsten
Kollektionen der Klassiker Des Designs ins Leben, die
von ihr produziert und weltweit vertrieben wird. Matrix
trug dazu bei, die Kenntnisse zu verbreiten und macht
diese Produkte einem großen Publikum zugänglich.
Nachdem sie für lange Zeit in Vergessenheit geraten
waren, folgte eine Phase der Neuentdeckung und der
Neuintepretierung, die nicht immer korrekt erfolgten.
Es entstanden Stereotypen einer Wohnidee, die nie
vollkommen verstanden wurden. Indem man sich täglich
der technischen und formalen Vorzüglichkeit dieser
Produkte widmete, stellte Matrix stets ihr Prinzip Die
Gegenstände Gut Zu Realisieren in den Vordergrund: dank
dieser Disziplin konnte man einen hohen Qualitätsstandard
erreichen, der aus der Erfahrung und der Kompetenz bei
der Verarbeitung von Holz, Eisen, Polstermöbeln und
Dekorationsstoffen besteht und die neue Produktlinie
The Ultimate Collection entstehen lässt. Zum ersten
Mal wird diese Kollektion in diesem Band vorgestellt; sie
interpretiert auf immer aufmerksamere Art einige neue
Wohnanforderungen. In den verschiedenen Abschnitten
des Katalogs, der Sessel und der Sofas, der Stühle, der
Tische und der Dekorationsartikel enthält, werden einige
noch nie veröffentlichte Projekte von Meistern wie Eero
Saarinen vorgestellt, als Ergebnis der Forschung und
der Zusammenarbeit mit den Erben der Autoren. Die
Kollektion enthält auch viele zeitgenössische Projekte,
die dank der Verbindung mit der Universitätsforschung,
wie die letzte Kreation Change, entstanden. Die
Veröffentlichung dieses Volumens sammelt die intimste
Essenz der eigenen Arbeitsmethoden, entsteht aus
dem Wunsch, den Zugehörigkeitssinn zu einem noch
lebendigeren Werk zu bestätigen, das einen Anfang
darstellte und die Richtung für diese Erfahrung anzeigte.
Matrix hat sich entwickelt und ist – wie jede andere
Unternehemerrealität – dank des Beitrags zahlreicher
Personen gewachsen. Diesen Personen muss man für
die durchgeführte Arbeit danken, eine Arbeit die weiter
Ansporn und Ideen bietet.

cada vez más atenta algunas nuevas exigencias del
habitar. En las diferentes secciones del catálogo que
incluye sillones, sofás, sillas, mesas y complementos,
confluyen algunos proyectos inéditos de maestros
como Eero Saarinen, resultado de investigaciones
y colaboraciones con los herederos de los autores;
proyectos contemporáneos, desarrollados en contacto
con el mundo de la investigación universitaria, como
la última creación Change. La publicación de este
volumen, que recoge la esencia más íntima del propio
método de trabajo, nace del deseo de afirmar el
sentido de pertenencia a un proyecto aún vivo, que ha
marcado el inicio y dado la dirección de marcha a esta
experiencia.
