Which fees are payable? The fees payable are made up as follows: a) Basic fee of EUR 52.00 b) Additional fee for the semester ticket in the amount of EUR 62.50 These fees are charged by the University according to Art. 95 Section 5 Clause 1 of the Bavarian Higher Education Act; the amount is then passed on to the Studentenwerk (extramural Student Services). The fee amount is determined by the Studentenwerk statute. 3. Who needs to pay which fees and when? In general, all students must pay the two fees due to the Studentenwerk amounting to a total of EUR 114,50 in one lump sum by no later than February 1, 2016. Any student who has not paid by February 1, 2016 will be expelled with effect as of March 31, 2016; notification of expulsion will be delivered in early April 2016. Upon application, severely disabled students will not need to pay the additional fee for the semester ticket if they are eligible for free transportation under Book 9 of the German Social Code (SGB IX) and if they present the supplementary page to the disabled person's pass displaying a valid stamp. Please submit your application to the university responsible (see no. 4); at LMU, the application deadline is February 1, 2016. 4. What if I have to register at two universities at the same time? If you register at two universities at the same time (double registration), you only have to pay fees at one of the two universities; you are required to report in person to the university to which you have not paid fees and submit documentary evidence of the payment made to the other university (e.g. evidence of bank transfer, payment receipt, etc.). At LMU, this must take place by no later than February 1, 2016. You are essentially free to decide at which of the universities you pay the fees, though the following exceptions apply: a) Students who are registered in a joint degree program run by more than one university based on a cooperation agreement between two or more universities must pay the fees to the university whose registration law they are subject to (recipient university); in this case, reporting in person to the other university/universities is not required. This currently only applies to students in the following degree programs: - Bachelor and master degree program "Professional Training", master degree program "Advanced Materials Science“, bachelor degree program "Geosciences" and master degree program "Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology": The recipient university is Technische Universität München. - Bachelor, master and Diplom degree program "Bioinformatics", master degree program "Geological Sciences", master degree program "Geomaterials and Geochemistry", master degree program "Geophysics", master degree LUDWIG-MAXIMILIANS-UNIVERSITÄT MÜNCHEN PAGE 2 OF 2 program "Theoretical and Mathematical Physics" and "First section of state examination degree program for Medicine": the recipient university is LMU. If the recipient university does not fall within the area of responsibility of the Munich Studentenwerk, the amount of the fee and liability to pay is based on the provisions that apply to the recipient university. This only applies to students in the master and Magister degree program "Aisthesis: Historical Art and Literature Discourses" (recipient university: KU Eichstätt) and the master degree program "Software Engineering" (recipient university: University of Augsburg). Reporting in person to the other university/universities is not required in these cases. b) Students who are registered at LMU and simultaneously at another university that is within the area of responsibility of the Munich Studentenwerk but does not take part in the semester ticket must – except in the cases listed under a) - pay the additional fee for the semester ticket to the LMU by no later than February 1, 2016; if the basic fee is not also paid to the LMU, evidence of payment of this fee to the other university must be provided to LMU by reporting in person (submission of bank transfer documentation, payment receipt, etc.). The following universities in Munich currently participate in the semester ticket: LMU, TUM, Munich University of Applied Sciences, Bavarian School of Public Policy, Akademie der Bildenden Künste, University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, University of Applied Languages (Munich Institute of Languages and Interpreting, SDI), Katholische Stiftungsfachhochschule München/Munich division, Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences except for Triesdorf division. 5. Your student ID together with an official identity document with photograph entitles you to use all means of transportation included in the MVV system (2nd class) for the duration of the semester in question throughout the entire MVV network, Monday to Friday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. of the following day (including night lines) and without time limit on Saturday, Sundays and public holidays. You can also purchase an "IsarCard Semester" ticket via the MVV sales channels, valid for the period of one semester, which in combination with your student ID and an official identity document with photograph entitles you to unlimited travel on all transportation in the MVV system (2nd class) throughout the entire MVV network. For further details, please see the websites of the Munich Studentenwerk and the MVV. Please note that the Office of the Registrar at LMU is your point of contact in connection with the semester ticket exclusively with regard to questions or problems relating to collection of the additional fee and issuance of the student ID.
